8a7d86bdb2 [POWERPC] spufs: avoid spurious memory barriers
We now have proper locking around assignets of the mapping pointers,
and the spin_unlock implies enough of a barrier to get rid of the
explicit one.

db1384b40d [POWERPC] spufs: fix memory leak on spufs reloading
When SPU isolation mode enabled, isolated_loader would be
allocated by spufs_init_isolated_loader() on module_init().
But anyone do not free it.

This patch introduces spufs_exit_isolated_loader() which is
the opposite of spufs_init_isolated_loader() and called on
module_exit().

57dace2391 [POWERPC] spufs: make spu page faults not block scheduling
Until now, we have always entered the spu page fault handler
with a mutex for the spu context held. This has multiple
bad side-effects:
- it becomes impossible to suspend the context during
  page faults
- if an spu program attempts to access its own mmio
  areas through DMA, we get an immediate livelock when
  the nopage function tries to acquire the same mutex

This patch makes the page fault logic operate on a
struct spu_context instead of a struct spu, and moves it
from spu_base.c to a new file fault.c inside of spufs.

We now also need to copy the dar and dsisr contents
of the last fault into the saved context to have it
accessible in case we schedule out the context before
activating the page fault handler.

7ec18ab923 [POWERPC] spufs: streamline locking for isolated spu setup
For quite a while now spu state is protected by a simple mutex instead
of the old rw_semaphore, and this means we can simplify the locking
around spu_setup_isolated a lot.

Instead of doing an spu_release before entering spu_setup_isolated and
then calling the complicated spu_acquire_exclusive we can now simply
enter the function locked an in guaranteed runnable state, so that the
only bit of spu_acquire_exclusive that's left is the call to
spu_unmap_mappings.

Similarly there's no more need to unlock and reacquire the state_mutex
when spu_setup_isolated is done, but we can always return with the
lock held and only drop it in spu_run_init in the failure case.

390cbb56a7 [POWERPC] Fix detection of loader-supplied initrd on OF platforms
Commit 79c8541924 introduced code to move
the initrd if it was in a place where it would get overwritten by the
kernel image.  Unfortunately this exposed the fact that the code that
checks whether the values passed in r3 and r4 are intended to indicate
the start address and size of an initrd image was not as thorough as the
kernel's checks.  The symptom is that on OF-based platforms, the
bootwrapper can cause an exception which causes the system to drop back
into OF.

Previously it didn't matter so much if the code incorrectly thought that
there was an initrd, since the values for start and size were just passed
through to the kernel.  Now the bootwrapper needs to apply the same checks
as the kernel since it is now using the initrd data itself (in the process
of copying it if necessary).  This adds the code to do that.

0727702a3a [POWERPC] ibmebus: change probe/remove interface from using loc-code to DT path
In some cases, multiple OFDT nodes might share the same location code, so
the location code is not a unique identifier for an OFDT node. Changed the
ibmebus probe/remove interface to use the DT path of the device node instead
of the location code.

The DT path must be written into probe/remove right as it would appear in
the "devspec" attribute of the ebus device: relative to the DT root, with a
leading slash and without a trailing slash. One trailing newline will not
hurt; multiple newlines will (like perl's chomp()).

Example:

 Add a device "/proc/device-tree/foo@12345678" to ibmebus like this:
    echo /foo@12345678 > /sys/bus/ibmebus/probe

 Remove the device like this:
    echo /foo@12345678 > /sys/bus/ibmebus/remove

Here's an implementation of DEBUG_PAGEALLOC for 64 bits powerpc.
It applies on top of the 32 bits patch.

Unlike Anton's previous attempt, I'm not using updatepp. I'm removing
the hash entries from the bolted mapping (using a map in RAM of all the
slots). Expensive but it doesn't really matter, does it ? :-)

Memory hot-added doesn't benefit from this unless it's added at an
address that is below end_of_DRAM() as calculated at boot time.

ee4f2ea486 [POWERPC] Fix 32-bit mm operations when not using BATs
On hash table based 32 bits powerpc's, the hash management code runs with
a big spinlock. It's thus important that it never causes itself a hash
fault. That code is generally safe (it does memory accesses in real mode
among other things) with the exception of the actual access to the code
itself. That is, the kernel text needs to be accessible without taking
a hash miss exceptions.

This is currently guaranteed by having a BAT register mapping part of the
linear mapping permanently, which includes the kernel text. But this is
not true if using the "nobats" kernel command line option (which can be
useful for debugging) and will not be true when using DEBUG_PAGEALLOC
implemented in a subsequent patch.

This patch fixes this by pre-faulting in the hash table pages that hit
the kernel text, and making sure we never evict such a page under hash
pressure.

a741e67969 [POWERPC] Make tlb flush batch use lazy MMU mode
The current tlb flush code on powerpc 64 bits has a subtle race since we
lost the page table lock due to the possible faulting in of new PTEs
after a previous one has been removed but before the corresponding hash
entry has been evicted, which can leads to all sort of fatal problems.

This patch reworks the batch code completely. It doesn't use the mmu_gather
stuff anymore. Instead, we use the lazy mmu hooks that were added by the
paravirt code. They have the nice property that the enter/leave lazy mmu
mode pair is always fully contained by the PTE lock for a given range
of PTEs. Thus we can guarantee that all batches are flushed on a given
CPU before it drops that lock.

We also generalize batching for any PTE update that require a flush.

Batching is now enabled on a CPU by arch_enter_lazy_mmu_mode() and
disabled by arch_leave_lazy_mmu_mode(). The code epects that this is
always contained within a PTE lock section so no preemption can happen
and no PTE insertion in that range from another CPU. When batching
is enabled on a CPU, every PTE updates that need a hash flush will
use the batch for that flush.

721151d004 [POWERPC] Allow drivers to map individual 4k pages to userspace
Some drivers have resources that they want to be able to map into
userspace that are 4k in size.  On a kernel configured with 64k pages
we currently end up mapping the 4k we want plus another 60k of
physical address space, which could contain anything.  This can
introduce security problems, for example in the case of an infiniband
adaptor where the other 60k could contain registers that some other
program is using for its communications.

This patch adds a new function, remap_4k_pfn, which drivers can use to
map a single 4k page to userspace regardless of whether the kernel is
using a 4k or a 64k page size.  Like remap_pfn_range, it would
typically be called in a driver's mmap function.  It only maps a
single 4k page, which on a 64k page kernel appears replicated 16 times
throughout a 64k page.  On a 4k page kernel it reduces to a call to
remap_pfn_range.

The way this works on a 64k kernel is that a new bit, _PAGE_4K_PFN,
gets set on the linux PTE.  This alters the way that __hash_page_4K
computes the real address to put in the HPTE.  The RPN field of the
linux PTE becomes the 4k RPN directly rather than being interpreted as
a 64k RPN.  Since the RPN field is 32 bits, this means that physical
addresses being mapped with remap_4k_pfn have to be below 2^44,
i.e. 0x100000000000.

The patch also factors out the code in arch/powerpc/mm/hash_utils_64.c
that deals with demoting a process to use 4k pages into one function
that gets called in the various different places where we need to do
that.  There were some discrepancies between exactly what was done in
the various places, such as a call to spu_flush_all_slbs in one case
but not in others.

Our kernels put everything in the first load segment, and we read that.
Instead of decompressing to the end of the gzip stream or supplied image

dbf8eefa2b [POWERPC] spufs: don't yield CPU in spu_yield
There is no reason to yield the CPU in spu_yield - if the backing
thread reenters spu_run it gets added to the end of the runqueue for
it's priority.  So the yield is just a slowdown for the case where
we have higher priority contexts waiting.

3af82a8b00 [POWERPC] Clean up zImage handling of the command line
This cleans up how the zImage code manipulates the kernel
command line.  Notable improvements from the old handling:
	- Command line manipulation is consolidated into a new
prep_cmdline() function, rather than being scattered across start()
and some helper functions
	- Less stack space use: we use just a single global command
line buffer, which can be initialized by an external tool as before,
we no longer need another command line sized buffer on the stack.
	- Easier to support platforms whose firmware passes a
commandline, but not a device tree.  Platform code can now point new
loader_info fields to the firmware's command line, rather than having
to do early manipulation of the /chosen bootargs property which may
then be rewritten again by the core.

569975591c [POWERPC] DMA 4GB boundary protection
There are many adapters which cannot handle DMAing across any 4 GB
boundary.  For instance, the latest Emulex adapters.

This normally is not an issue as firmware gives dma-windows under
4gigs.  However, some of the new System-P boxes have dma-windows above
4gigs, and this present a problem.

During initialization of the IOMMU tables, the last entry at each 4GB
boundary is marked as used.  Thus no mappings can cross the boundary.
If a table ends at a 4GB boundary, the entry is not marked as used.

A boot option to remove this 4GB protection is given w/ protect4gb=off.
This exposes the potential issue for driver and hardware development
purposes.

de74f70360 [POWERPC] QE: fix invalid pointer usage in ucc_slow_init()
In two places, ucc_slow_init() passes a physical address instead of the
virtual address to functions that were expecting the latter, causing a kernel
panic.  us_info->regs contains the physical address of the UCC register set.
The registers are ioremap'd to kernel space, and the virtual pointers are
stored in us_regs.  The code was using us_info->regs when it should have been
using us_regs.

7d776cb596 [POWERPC] QE: automatically select QE options
Change the Kconfig files so that the Freescale QE options are automatically
selected if a QE device is selected.  Previously, you'd need to manually
select UCC_FAST if you want any "fast" UCC devices, such as Gigabit Ethernet.
Now, the QE Gigabit Ethernet option is always available if the device has a
QE, and UCC_FAST is automatically enabled.  A side-effect is that the
"QE Options" menu no longer exists.

for accessing system registers.  For now, this includes functions for

Before the plethora of platforms gets any worse, establish a common
rule to invoke the wrapper for any platform.  Add arguments to
the rule for initrd, dts, dtb, etc.   Show example usage with initrd.

Create default rules for zImage, and zImage.initrd.  initrd targets
depend on the ramdisk file.

Don't consider targets for zImage.initrd that are targets for zImage.
This means uImage is no longer considered a target for zImage.initrd.

This removes the time suspend/restore code that was done through
a PMU notifier in arch/platforms/powermac/time.c.

Instead, introduce arch/powerpc/sysdev/timer.c which creates a sys
device and handles time of day suspend/resume through that.

This should probably be replaced by using the generic RTC framework
but for now it gets rid of the arcane powermac specific hack.

fd42c71751 [POWERPC] Removed config options that we don't support in embedded6xx
When we started arch/powerpc we duplicated a number of config options from
arch/ppc for various platforms that are supported.  Now that we actually
support a few platforms, remove all the ones that haven't been moved over.
Additionally, this cleanup moved the 82xx/PQ2 options over into
arch/powerpc/platforms/82xx/Kconfig where they belong.  It also killed
GEN550 which doesn't exist in arch/powerpc.

4f5fa2fb12 [POWERPC] Bypass hcall stats until cpu features have run
I noticed that we execute hcalls before cpu feature code has run (eg
for setting up the bolted kernel region).  This means that we may be
executing code that is not appropriate for the processor we have.
Create an unconditional branch that we nop out all the time to fix this.

b4aea36b79 [POWERPC] Avoid hypervisor statistics calculation in real mode
kexec invokes plpar_hcall hypervisor call in real mode.  plpar_hcall
refers to per cpu variables for accounting hypervisor statistics.
These variables may not be in the RMO region, so accesses to them
in real mode may result in a data storage exception.

This fixes this problem by using a new plpar_hcall_raw function which
does not update the hypervisor call statistics.  Thanks to Anton for
suggesting this idea.

The --no-gzip option can be passed to the wrapper so that the kernel
image is included uncompressed into the zImage.  This is intended for
bootloaders where the zImage itself can be compressed, or where boot time

6bccf755ff [POWERPC] ibmebus: dynamic addition/removal of adapters, some code cleanup
This adds two sysfs attributes to /sys/bus/ibmebus which can be used to
notify the ebus driver of added / removed ebus devices in the OF device
tree.

Echoing the device's location code (as found in the OFDT "ibm,loc-code"
property) into the "probe" attribute will notify ebus of addition of the
device and cause the appropriate device driver's probe function to be called
on the device.

Likewise, echoing the location code into the "remove" attribute will cause
the device to be removed from the system.

The writes will block until the respective operation has finished and return
an error code if the operation failed.

In addition, two minor tidbits are fixed:

- The fake root device used to provide a common parent for all ebus devices
  is now based on device instead of of_device - it had no associated devtree
  node. This saves several checks throughout the ebus driver.

- The sysfs attributes are now generated automagically by device_register()
  instead of by the ibmebus code, which saves a few compiler warnings about
  unused return codes.

Most of ft_get_parent() is factored out into __ft_get_parent(), which
deals only in internal node pointers.  The ft_get_parent() wrapper
handles phandle conversion in both directions (previously,
ft_get_parent() did not convert its return value).

It also now returns NULL as the parent of the toplevel node, rather than
just returning the toplevel node again (which made it rather useless in
loops).

cd197ffcf1 [POWERPC] zImage: Cleanup and improve zImage entry point
This patch re-organises the way the zImage wrapper code is entered, to
allow more flexibility on platforms with unusual entry conditions.
After this patch, a platform .o file has two options:

1) It can define a _zimage_start, in which case the platform code gets
   control from the very beginning of execution.  In this case the
   platform code is responsible for relocating the zImage if necessary,
   clearing the BSS, performing any platform specific initialization, and
   finally calling start() to load and enter the kernel.

2) It can define platform_init().  In this case the generic crt0.S
   handles initial entry, and calls platform_init() before calling
   start().  The signature of platform_init() is changed, however, to
   take up to 5 parameters (in r3..r7) as they come from the platform's
   initial loader, instead of a fixed set of parameters based on OF's
   usage.

   When using the generic crt0.S, the platform .o can optionally
   supply a custom stack to use, using the BSS_STACK() macro.  If this
   is not supplied, the crt0.S will assume that the loader has
   supplied a usable stack.

In either case, the platform code communicates information to the
generic code (specifically, a PROM pointer for OF systems, and/or an
initrd image address supplied by the bootloader) via a global
structure "loader_info".

In addition the wrapper script is rearranged to ensure that the
platform .o is always linked first.  This means that platforms where
the zImage entry point is at a fixed address or offset, rather than
being encoded in the binary header can be supported using option (1).

79c8541924 [POWERPC] zImage: Cleanup and improve prep_kernel()
This patch rewrites prep_kernel() in the zImage wrapper code to be
clearer and more flexible.  Notable changes:

	- Handling of the initrd image from prep_kernel() has moved
into a new prep_initrd() function.
	- The address of the initrd image is now added as device tree
properties, as the kernel expects.
	- We only copy a packaged initrd image to a new location if it
is in danger of being clobbered when the kernel moves to its final
location, instead of always.
	- By default we decompress the kernel directly to address 0,
instead of requiring it to relocate itself.  Platforms (such as OF)
where doing this could clobber still-live firmware data structures can
override the vmlinux_alloc hook to provide an alternate place to
decompress the kernel.
	- We no longer pass lots of information between functions in
global variables.

ad9d2716cf [POWERPC] zImage: Add more flexible gunzip convenience functions
At present, arch/powerpc/boot/main.c includes a gunzip() function
which is a convenient wrapper around zlib.  However, it doesn't
conveniently allow decompressing part of an image to one location,
then the remainder to a different address.

This patch adds a new set of more flexible convenience wrappers around
zlib, moving them to their own file, gunzip_util.c, in the process.
These wrappers allow decompressing sections of the compressed image to
different locations.  In addition, they transparently handle
uncompressed data, avoiding special case code to handle uncompressed
vmlinux images.

The patch also converts main.c to use the new wrappers, using the new
flexibility to avoid decompressing the vmlinux's ELF header twice as
we did previously.  That in turn means we avoid extending our
allocations for the vmlinux to allow space for the extra copy of the
ELF header.

94b2a4393c [POWERPC] Fix spu SLB invalidations
The SPU code doesn't properly invalidate SPUs SLBs when necessary,
for example when changing a segment size from the hugetlbfs code. In
addition, it saves and restores the SLB content on context switches
which makes it harder to properly handle those invalidations.

This patch removes the saving & restoring for now, something more
efficient might be found later on. It also adds a spu_flush_all_slbs(mm)
that can be used by the core mm code to flush the SLBs of all SPEs that
are running a given mm at the time of the flush.

In order to do that, it adds a spinlock to the list of all SPEs and move
some bits & pieces from spufs to spu_base.c

618d3adc35 [POWERPC] DMA 4GB boundary protection
There are many adapters which can not handle DMAing acrosss any 4 GB
boundary.  For instance the latest Emulex adapters.

This normally is not an issue as firmware gives us dma-windows under
4gigs.  However, some of the new System-P boxes have dma-windows above
4gigs, and this present a problem.

I propose fixing it in the IOMMU allocation instead of making each
driver protect against it as it is more efficient, and won't require
changing every driver which has not considered this issue.

This patch checks to see if the mapping spans a 4 gig boundary, and if
it does, retries the allocation.  It tries the next allocation at the
start of the crossed 4 gig boundary.

30437b3e74 [POWERPC] Automatically lmb_reserve() initrd
At present, when an initrd is passed to the kernel used flat device
tree properties, the memory the initrd occupies must also be reserved
in the flat tree's reserve map, or the kernel may overwrite it.  That
makes life more complicated than it could be for the bootwrapper.

This patch makes the kernel automatically reserve the initrd's space.
That in turn requires parsing the initrd parameters earlier than they
are currently, in early_init_dt_scan_chosen() instead of
check_for_initrd().

eb6de28637 [POWERPC] Allow duplicate lmb_reserve() calls
At present calling lmb_reserve() (and hence lmb_add_region()) twice
for exactly the same memory region will cause strange behaviour.

This makes life difficult when booting from a flat device tree with
memory reserve map.  Which regions are automatically reserved by the
kernel has changed over time, so it's quite possible a newer kernel
could attempt to auto-reserve a region which is also explicitly listed
in the device tree's reserve map, leading to trouble.

This patch avoids the problem by making lmb_reserve() ignore a call to
reserve a previously reserved region.  It also removes a now redundant
test designed to avoid one specific case of the problem noted above.

At present, this patch deals only with duplicate reservations of an
identical region.  Attempting to reserve two different, but
overlapping regions will still cause problems.  I might post another
patch later dealing with this case, but I'm avoiding it now since it
is substantially more complicated to deal with, less likely to occur
and more likely to indicate a genuine bug elsewhere if it does occur.

bb72c481e9 [POWERPC] Harden validate_sp against stack corruption
If something has overflowed or corrupted the stack and causes an oops,
and we try to print a stack trace, that will call validate_sp, which
can itself cause an oops if the cpu field of the thread_info struct at
the bottom of the stack has been corrupted (if CONFIG_IRQSTACKS is
set).  This makes debugging harder.

To avoid the second oops, this adds a check to make sure that the cpu
number is reasonable before using it to check whether the stack is on
the softirq or hardirq stack.

8388374f1c [POWERPC] Celleb: bug fix caused by not casting pointer types
This fixes a bug caused by changes of pointer type in
commit f1fda89522.

hose->cfg_addr type is "volatile unsigned int __iomem *", so
"hose->cfg_addr + X" will not make an intended address.

This patch also adds comments for usage of cfg_addr and cfg_data in
pci_controller structure.  We use them in irregular way, and the
original code is short of explanations about them.

970MP rev 1.0 is reported to have nonworking DEEPNAP support, we've had
bug reports of lockups on those machines. Appearantly Apple used them
on some dual-core dual-cpu systems. Rev 1.1 is OK, and that's the one
that all 4-way systems seem to use.

84dd619e4d mv643xx_eth: Place explicit port number in mv643xx_eth_platform_data
We were using the platform_device.id field to identify which ethernet
port is used for mv643xx_eth device.  This is not generally correct.
It will be incorrect, for example, if a hardware platform uses a single
port but not the first port.  Here, we add an explicit port_number field
to struct mv643xx_eth_platform_data.

This makes the mv643xx_eth_platform_data structure required, but that
isn't an issue since all users currently provide it already.

f5f2b13129 [PATCH] msi: sanely support hardware level msi disabling
In some cases when we are not using msi we need a way to ensure that the
hardware does not have an msi capability enabled.  Currently the code has been
calling disable_msi_mode to try and achieve that.  However disable_msi_mode
has several other side effects and is only available when msi support is
compiled in so it isn't really appropriate.

Instead this patch implements pci_msi_off which disables all msi and msix
capabilities unconditionally with no additional side effects.

pci_disable_device was redundantly clearing the bus master enable flag and
clearing the msi enable bit.  A device that is not allowed to perform bus
mastering operations cannot generate intx or msi interrupt messages as those
are essentially a special case of dma, and require bus mastering.  So the call
in pci_disable_device to disable msi capabilities was redundant.

quirk_pcie_pxh also called disable_msi_mode and is updated to use pci_msi_off.

28ee086d5b backlight: Fix external uses of backlight internal semaphore
backlight_device->sem has a very specific use as documented in the
header file. The external users of this are using it for a different
reason, to serialise access to the update_status() method.

backlight users were supposed to implement their own internal
serialisation of update_status() if needed but everyone is doing
things differently and incorrectly. Therefore add a global mutex to
take care of serialisation for everyone, once and for all.

Locking for get_brightness remains optional since most users don't
need it.

Also update the lcd class in a similar way.

5d30bf3097 [POWERPC] pseries: Enabling auto poweron after power is restored.
During power outages, the UPS notifies the system for a shutdown.
In the current setup, it isn't possible to poweron when power is
restored.  This patch fixes the issue by calling the right
ibm,power-off-ups token during such events.  It also adds a sysfs
interface so userspace can specify whether or not to power on when
power is restored.

29cfe6f4fb [POWERPC] add of_get_mac_address and update fsl_soc.c to use it
Add function of_get_mac_address(), which obtains the best MAC address to use
from the device tree by checking various properties in order.  The order is:
'mac-address', then 'local-mac-address', then 'address'.  It skips properties
that contain invalid MAC addresses, which were probably not initialized
by U-Boot.

Update gfar_of_init() and fs_enet_of_init() in fsl_soc.c to call
of_get_mac_address().

a32525449b [POWERPC] Fix bug with early ioremap and 64k pages
The code for bolting hash entries for ioremap done before proper
mm initialization has a grown a bug when using 64K pages on a
machine where non-cacheable mappings are demoted to 4K HW pages.
The wrong page size index is being passed to the hash table mapping
functions causing a crash at boot on some pSeries machines using
bare metal linux.  This fixes it.

The 'linux,boot-cpu' property is obsolete, so remove it from all of the DTS
files and from booting-without-of.txt.  The boot CPU is actually defined in
the device tree header, and U-Boot sets that field.  The device tree compiler
also complains if the property exists.

0b4d414714 [PATCH] sysctl: remove insert_at_head from register_sysctl
The semantic effect of insert_at_head is that it would allow new registered
sysctl entries to override existing sysctl entries of the same name.  Which is
pain for caching and the proc interface never implemented.

I have done an audit and discovered that none of the current users of
register_sysctl care as (excpet for directories) they do not register
duplicate sysctl entries.

So this patch simply removes the support for overriding existing entries in
the sys_sysctl interface since no one uses it or cares and it makes future
enhancments harder.

udbg_early_init() is a function used on 64 bit systems, which
initializes whichever early udbg backend is configured.  This function
is not called on 32-bit, however if btext early debug is enabled it
does have an explicit, inline, #ifdef-ed assignment performing
analagous initialization.

This patch makes things more uniform by folding the btext
initialization as an option into udbg_early_init() and calling that
from the 32-bit setup path.

8d38a5b2fa [POWERPC] Open Firmware serial port driver
This can be used for serial ports that are connected to an
OF platform bus but are not autodetected by the lecacy
serial support.
It will automatically take over devices that come from the
legacy serial detection, which usually is only one device.

In some cases, rtas may be set up to use the serial port
in the firmware, which allows easier debugging before probing
the serial ports. In this case, the "used-by-rtas" property
must be set by the firmware. This patch also adds code to the
legacy serial driver to check for this.

Move all the pseries kexec code into one file, platforms/pseries/kexec.c
Provide helpers for setting up ppc_md.kexec_cpu_down, so that we don't
have to have #ifdef CONFIG_KEXEC in setup.c

Move the initialisation of the ppc_md kexec callbacks into an init routine.
This is well and truly early enough to cause no change in behaviour, we
can't kexec until userspace has given us a kernel to kexec into.

c7eb734766 [POWERPC] cell: pm_rtas_activat_signals routine cleanup
The code was setting up the debug bus for group 21 when profiling on the
event PPU CYCLES.  The debug bus is not actually used by the hardware
performance counters when counting PPU CYCLES.  Setting up the debug bus
for PPU CYCLES causes signal routing conflicts on the debug bus when
profiling PPU cycles and another PPU event.  This patch fixes the code to
only setup the debug bus to route the performance signals for the non
PPU CYCLE events.

Currently, there is no range check about mmapping "/mem" node in
spufs. Thus, an application can access privilege memory region.

2eb1b12049 [POWERPC] spu sched: static timeslicing for SCHED_RR contexts
For SCHED_RR tasks we can do some really trivial timeslicing.  Basically
we fire up a time for every scheduler tick that searches for a higher
or same priority thread that is on the runqueue and if there is one
context switches to it.  Because we can't lock spus from timer context
we actually run this from a delayed runqueue instead of a timer.

A nice optimization would be to skip the actual priority bitmap search
when there are less contexts than physical spus available.  To implement
this I need a so far unpublished patch from Andre, and it will be added
after we have that patch in.

Note that right now we only do the time slicing for SCHED_RR tasks.
The code would work for SCHED_OTHER tasks aswell, but their prio
value is defered from the one the PPU thread has at time of spu_run,
and using this for spu scheduling decisions would make the code very
unfair.  SCHED_OTHER support will be enabled once we the spu scheduler
knows how to calculcate cpu_context.prio (very soon)

This is the biggest patch in this series, and it reworks the guts of
the spu scheduler runqueue mechanism:

 - instead of embedding a waitqueue in the runqueue there is now a
   simple doubly-linked list, the actual wakeups happen by reusing
   the stop_wq in the spu context (maybe we should rename it one day)
 - spu_free and spu_prio_wakeup are merged into a single spu_reschedule
   function
 - various functionality is split out into small helpers, and kerneldoc
   comments are added in various places to document what's going on.
 - spu_activate is rewritten into a tight loop by removing test for
   various impossible conditions and using the infrastructure in this
   patch.

This patch updates the defconfig for the MPC8349E-mITX.  In addition to picking
up changes from recent kernels, disables support for e100 (which doesn't ship
with the system), turns off input devices, turns on some I2C support, turns
off HW monitoring (HW not yet supported), turns off OHCI USB (not used), turns
off USB gadget support (HW not yet supported), turns on DOS FS support, and
turns off kernel debugging.

17e0e27020 [POWERPC] spufs: Fix bitrot of the SPU mmap facility
It looks like we've had some serious bitrot there mostly due to tracking
of address_space's of mmap'ed files getting out of sync with the actual
mmap code. The mfc, mss and psmap were not tracked properly and thus
not invalidated on context switches (oops !)

I also removed the various file->f_mapping = inode->i_mapping;
assignments that were done in the other open() routines since that
is already done for us by __dentry_open.

One improvement we might want to do later is to assign the various
ctx-> fields at mmap time instead of file open/close time so that we
don't call unmap_mapping_range() on thing that have not been mmap'ed

Finally, I added some smp_wmb's after assigning the ctx-> fields to make
sure they are visible to other CPUs. I don't think this is really
necessary as I suspect locking in the fs layer will make that happen
anyway but better safe than sorry.

78bde53e35 [POWERPC] spufs: remove need for struct page for SPEs
This patch removes the need for struct page for SPE local store
and registers from spufs. It also makes the locking much more
obvious and no longer relying on the truncate logic black magic
for protecting against races between unmap_mapping_range() and
new pages faulted in. It does so by switching to a nopfn() handler
and using the new vm_insert_pfn() to setup the PTEs itself while
holding a lock on the SPE.

The nice thing is that this patch actually removes a lot more code
than it adds :-)

a 2 line efika.h to link the two. The total of code in those is
really not much and therefore, I think they're better merged

Short list:
- drop mpc52xx designator; only two supported chips exist, 5200 and 5200b.
  It's premature to refer to them as '52xx'.
- Specify optional 'model' and 'revision' properties in the soc5200 node
- Specify reqiured 'cell-index' property to identify between multiple SOC
  devices of the same type.  (Useful for arbitrating shared register access)
- Specify optional 'port-number' property for adjusting the logical serial
  port assignments.
- Specify optional 'has-wdt' property for gpt0 node.
- Add system-frequency property to soc5200 node

7ac9a13717 [POWERPC] Fix vDSO page count calculation
The recent vDSO consolidation patches broke powerpc due to a mistake
in the definition of MAXPAGES constants. This fixes it by moving to
a dynamically allocated array of pages instead as I don't like much
hard coded size limits. Also move the vdso initialisation to an initcall
since it doesn't really need to be done -that- early.

Applogies for not catching the breakage earlier, Roland _did_ CC me on
his patches a while ago, I got busy with other things and forgot to test
them.

8ce0a7df6e [POWERPC] 85xx: Don't write reserved values to MAS1[TSIZE]
Some of the current tlbwe instructions early on in head_fsl_booke.S take
advantage of unarchitected behavior that allows the writing of reserved
values to the TSIZE field.  This patch corrects that, as well as an error
where an uninitialized (by linux) value was written into a MAS register and
used for a tlbwe.

Correct this for both arch/ppc and arch/powerpc.

Preallocate bootmem memory for the PS3 frame buffer device, which needs a
large block of physically-contiguous memory. The size of this memory block is
configurable:
  - The config option CONFIG_FB_PS3_DEFAULT_SIZE_M allows to specify the
    default amount of memory (in MiB) allocated to the virtual frame buffer.
  - The early boot parameter `ps3fb=xxx' allows to override the default value.
    It will be rounded up to a multiple of 1 MiB, if needed.

I noticed that almost all architectures implemented exactly the same
sys32_sysinfo...  except parisc, where a bug was to be found in handling of
the uptime.  So let's remove a whole whack of code for fun and profit.
Cribbed compat_sys_sysinfo from x86_64's implementation, since I figured it
would be the best tested.

This patch incorporates Arnd's suggestion of not using set_fs/get_fs, but
instead extracting out the common code from sys_sysinfo.

5ac6da669e [PATCH] Set CONFIG_ZONE_DMA for arches with GENERIC_ISA_DMA
As Andi pointed out: CONFIG_GENERIC_ISA_DMA only disables the ISA DMA
channel management.  Other functionality may still expect GFP_DMA to
provide memory below 16M.  So we need to make sure that CONFIG_ZONE_DMA is
set independent of CONFIG_GENERIC_ISA_DMA.  Undo the modifications to
mm/Kconfig where we made ZONE_DMA dependent on GENERIC_ISA_DMA and set
theses explicitly in each arches Kconfig.

Reviews must occur for each arch in order to determine if ZONE_DMA can be
switched off.  It can only be switched off if we know that all devices
supported by a platform are capable of performing DMA transfers to all of
memory (Some arches already support this: uml, avr32, sh sh64, parisc and
IA64/Altix).

In order to switch ZONE_DMA off conditionally, one would have to establish
a scheme by which one can assure that no drivers are enabled that are only
capable of doing I/O to a part of memory, or one needs to provide an
alternate means of performing an allocation from a specific range of memory
(like provided by alloc_pages_range()) and insure that all drivers use that
call.  In that case the arches alloc_dma_coherent() may need to be modified
to call alloc_pages_range() instead of relying on GFP_DMA.

8500adc79b [POWERPC] Update to linkstation / kurobox support
Linkstation systems capable of running mainline kernels use u-boot as a
bootloader, so, specifying a suitable kernel command is not a problem.
Don't guess. Also extend linkstation_defconfig to support the linkstation HS
model with a IT8212 IDE controller and kuroboxHD/HD-HLAN linkstation
models with a tulip ethernet chip. The latter also require a slightly
different .dts file, which is also included with this patch.

49baa91d68 [POWERPC] 83xx: Updated and renamed MPC834x SYS to MPC834x MDS
The MPC834x SYS board has always been called the MPC834x MDS since its public
release.  Removed all references to SYS and replaced with MDS.  Additionally
renamed the .dts to match the defconfig (mpc834x_mds*).

When building an 85xx kernel we get:

8f34f6cfa2 [POWERPC] QE: Rename ucc_slow_info.us_regs to ucc_slow_info.regs
Rename the 'us_regs' field of the ucc_slow_info structure in ucc_slow.h
to just 'regs'.  The equivalent field in the ucc_fast_info structure is
also called 'regs', so this patch makes them comparable, and makes the
code a little easier to read, because there already is a 'us_regs' in
another ucc_slow structure.

d003e7a1a5 [POWERPC] Add export of vgacon_remap_base
The following macro :
include/asm-powerpc/vga.h:#define VGA_MAP_MEM(x,s) (x + vgacon_remap_base)
is used by drivers/video/console/vgacon.c which can be compiled as a module
(drivers/video/vga16fb.ko).

Therefore, vgacon_remap_base should be exported.

kernel/irq.c contains a comment that speaks of -1 and -2 as interrupt
numbers, but this is actually dependent on configuration options now.
Replace by NO_IRQ and NO_IRQ_ENABLED.
