On PPC405GP/GPR it should be possible to enable PCI support, even when the
internal PCI arbiter is disabled (e.g. when using an external PCI
arbiter). The removed code didn't allow this, and also generated a warning
on PPC405EP platforms.

The PowerPC 440SP SoC has two Processor Local Bus (PLB) segments (a
high-throughput segment and a low-latency segment). Fix our PLB register
definitions to cope with this, and add code to dump the status of both
segments when a machine check occurs.

This patch fixes a numbers of issues regarding to that both 8xx and 82xx
began to use ppc_sys model:
- Platform is now identified by default deviceless SOC, if no
BOARD_CHIP_NAME is specified in the bard-specific header. For the list
of supported names refer to (arch/ppc/syslib/) mpc8xx_sys.c and
mpc82xx_sys.c for 8xx and 82xx respectively.
- Fixed a bug in identification by name - if the name was not found,
it returned -1 instead of default deviceless ppc_spec.
- fixed devices amount in the 8xx platform system descriptions

Convert core 8xx drivers to use in_xxxbe/in_xxx macros instead of direct
memory references.
Other than making IO accesses explicit (which is a plus for readability), a
common set of macros provides a unified place for the volatile flag to
constraint compiler code reordering.
There are several unlucky places at the moment which lack the volatile
flag.

This changes the parameters for i8259_init so that it takes two
parameters: a physical address for generating an interrupt
acknowledge cycle, and an interrupt number offset. i8259_init
now sets the irq_desc[] for its interrupts; all the callers
were doing this, and that code is gone now. This also defines
a CONFIG_PPC_I8259 symbol to select i8259.o for inclusion, and
makes the platforms that need it select that symbol.

This fixes up a variety of minor problems in compiling with ARCH=ppc
arising from using the merged versions of various header files.
A lot of the changes are just adding #include <asm/machdep.h> to
files that use ppc_md or smp_ops_t.
This also arranges for us to use semaphore.c, vecemu.c, vector.S and
fpu.S from arch/powerpc/kernel when compiling with ARCH=ppc.

Now instead of having a ppc_md function, we just have a variable
which says whether to do the i8259 irq canonicalization or not,
and set that variable on the platforms that need that. It looks
to me that radstone_ppc7d was trying to use irq canonicalization
for something else in a broken kind of way - it will need to be
fixed properly.

Changed ppc32 so that cur_cpu_spec is just a single pointer for all CPUs.
Additionally, made call_setup_cpu check to see if the cpu_setup pointer
is NULL or not before calling the function. This lets remove the dummy
cpu_setup calls that just return.

This creates the directory structure under arch/powerpc and a bunch
of Kconfig files. It does a first-cut merge of arch/powerpc/mm,
arch/powerpc/lib and arch/powerpc/platforms/powermac. This is enough
to build a 32-bit powermac kernel with ARCH=powerpc.
For now we are getting some unmerged files from arch/ppc/kernel and
arch/ppc/syslib, or arch/ppc64/kernel. This makes some minor changes
to files in those directories and files outside arch/powerpc.
The boot directory is still not merged. That's going to be interesting.

The SMU is the "system controller" chip used by Apple recent G5 machines
including the iMac G5. It drives things like fans, i2c busses, real time
clock, etc...
The current kernel contains a very crude driver that doesn't do much more
than reading the real time clock synchronously. This is a completely
rewritten driver that provides interrupt based command queuing, a userland
interface, and an i2c/smbus driver for accessing the devices hanging off
the SMU i2c busses like temperature sensors. This driver is a basic block
for upcoming work on thermal control for those machines, among others.

Added ppc_sys device and system definitions for PowerQUICC I devices. This
will allow drivers for PQI to be proper platform device drivers. Currently
sys section contains only MPC885 and MPC866. Identification should be done
with identify_ppc_sys_by_name call, with board-specific "name" string
passed, since PQI do not have any register that could identify the SOC.

The following patch changes the usages of PVR_440* into strcmp's with the
cpu_name field, and removes the defines altogether. The Ebony portion was
briefly tested long ago. One benefit of moving from PVR-tests to string
tests in general is that not all CPUs can be on and be able to do this type
of comparison.

This adds type-checking to pm_message_t, so that people can't confuse it
with int or u32. It also allows us to fix "disk yoyo" during suspend (disk
spinning down/up/down).
[We've tried that before; since that cpufreq problems were fixed and I've
tried make allyes config and fixed resulting damage.]

Adds support for the two PCI busses on MPC83xx and the MPC834x SYS/PIBS
reference board.
The code initializes PCI inbound/outbound windows, allocates and registers
PCI memory/io space. Be aware that setup of the PCI buses on the PIBs
board is expected to be done by the firmware.

Add the ability to identify an SOC by a name and id. There are cases in
which the integer identifier is not sufficient to specify a specific SOC.
In these cases we can use a string to further qualify the match.

PowerPC 40x and Book-E processors support a watchdog timer at the processor
core level. The timer has implementation dependent timeout frequencies
that can be configured by software.
One the first Watchdog timeout we get a critical exception. It is left to
board specific code to determine what should happen at this point. If
nothing is done and another timeout period expires the processor may
attempt to reset the machine.
Command line parameters:
wdt=0 : disable watchdog (default)
wdt=1 : enable watchdog
wdt_period=N : N sets the value of the Watchdog Timer Period.
The Watchdog Timer Period meaning is implementation specific. Check
User Manual for the processor for more details.

Typo bug that was using PCI1 defines instead of PCI2 when setting up the
second PCI bus controller on 85xx based systems. This hasn't been a real
issue since currently the PCI2 sizes are the same as the PCI1 sizes for
currently supported boards.

The UARTs on the MPC824x are unique devices and really shouldn't be thought
of as a DUART. In addition, if both UARTs are in use we need to configure
the part to enable the 2nd UART since the pins for the UARTs are
multiplexed. Adds support to run the 824x Sandpoint with both UARTs if
desired.

This converts the usage of struct of_match to struct of_device_id,
similar to pci_device_id. This allows a device table to be generated,
which can be parsed by depmod(8) to generate a map file for module
loading.
In order for hotplug to work with macio devices, patches to
module-init-tools and hotplug must be applied. Those patches are

Add explicit disabling of 440GP IRQ compatibility mode when configuring
440GX interrupt controller. This helps when board firmware for some reason
uses this compatibility mode and leaves it enabled. It breaks 440GX
interrupt code because it assumes native 440GX IRQ mode. People seems to
be continuously bitten by this.

The Power Management Unit on PowerMacs is very sensitive to timeouts during
async message exchanges. It uses rather crude protocol based on a shift
register with an interrupt and is almost continuously exchanging messages with
the host CPU on laptops.
This patch adds a routine to the open_pic driver to be able to select a PMU
driver so that it bumps it's interrupt priority to above the normal level.
This will allow PMU interrupts to occur while another interrupt is pending,
and thus reduce the risk of machine beeing abruptly shutdown by the PMU due to
a timeout in PMU communication caused by excessive interrupt latency. The
problem is very rare, and usually just doesn't happen, but it is still useful
to make things even more robust.

Added platform device initialization for the two 8250 style UARTs that
exist on the MPC8245. Additionally, updated the Sandpoint code to enable
one of these UARTs if an MPC8245 is connected to it.

Adds support for using the MPC8548 processor on the CDS reference board.
Currently all the major busses (PCI, PCI-X, PCI-Express, sRIO) and eTSEC3
and eTSEC4 are not supported.

This patch adds on-chip PCI bridge support for the PQ2 family. The
incomplete existent code is updated with interrupt handling stuff and
board-specific bits for 8272ADS and PQ2FADS; the related files were renamed
(from m8260_pci to m82xx_pci) to be of more generic fashion. This is
tested with 8266ADS and 8272ADS, should work on PQ2FADS as well.

Recent kernels occasionally trigger a PMU timeout on some mac laptops,
typically on wakeup from sleep. This seem to be caused by either a too big
latency caused by the cpufreq switch on wakeup from sleep or by an
interrupt beeing lost due to the reset of the interrupt controller done
during wakeup.
This patch makes that code more robust by stopping PMU auto poll activity
around cpufreq changes on machines that use the PMU for such changes (long
latency switching involving a CPU hard reset and flush of all caches) and
by removing the reset of the open pic interrupt controller on wakeup (that
can cause the loss of an interrupt and Darwin doesn't do it, so it must not
be necessary).

Initialization of 8250 serial ports that are platform devices require that
at empty entry exists in the array of plat_serial8250_port. With out an
empty entry we can get some pretty random behavior.

There is a problem with large amounts of spurious IRQs on PowerPC 82xx
systems.
The problem is corrected by adding sync at the end of cpm2_mask_and_ack.
This may be needed on 8xx as well but has not yet been confirmed.

The CONFIG_8xx_WDT option got broken in the generic hardirq update as ppc32
had its own different request_irq that worked when other arches used
setup_irq. This is the trivial fix for the problem.

To add support for 36-bit physical addressing on e500 the following changes
have been made. The changes are generalized to support any physical address
size larger than 32-bits:
* Allow FSL Book-E parts to use a 64-bit PTE, it is 44-bits of pfn, 20-bits
of flags.
* Introduced new CPU feature (CPU_FTR_BIG_PHYS) to allow runtime handling of
updating hardware register (SPRN_MAS7) which holds the upper 32-bits of
physical address that will be written into the TLB. This is useful since
not all e500 cores support 36-bit physical addressing.
* Currently have a pass through implementation of fixup_bigphys_addr
* Moved _PAGE_DIRTY in the 64-bit PTE case to free room for three additional
storage attributes that may exist in future FSL Book-E cores and updated
fault handler to copy these bits into the hardware TLBs.

This patch updates the PowerMac cpufreq driver. It depends on the addition
of the suspend() method (my previous patch) and on the new flag I defined
to silence some warnings that are normal for us.
It fixes various issues related to cpufreq on pmac, including some crashes
on some models when sleeping the machine while in low speed, proper voltage
control on some newer machines, and adds voltage control on 750FX based G3
laptops.

This patch adds interrupt acknowledge to the PPC4xx PIC enable_irq
implementation for level-sensitive IRQ sources. This helps in cases when
enable/disable_irq is used in interrupt handlers for hardware, which
requires IRQ acknowledge to be issued from non-interrupt context (e.g.
when actual ACK in device needs an I2C transaction). For such strange
hardware, interrupt handler disables IRQ and defers actual ACK to some
other context. When this happens, IRQ is enabled again. For
level-sensitive sources we get spurious triggering right after IRQ is
enabled. This patch fixes this.

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.
Let it rip!
