drivers/net/sb1000.c has lots of inlined static functions.
Mst of them are used at initialization, wait for some
hardware register to change (wait using yield, sleep etc),
or do slow port-based I/O. Inlining thse "for speed" makes no sense.
This patch removes "inline" from biggest static function
(regardless of number of callsites - gcc nowadays auto-inlines
statics with one callsite).

The register tests should be run with all the proper flags enabled
to maximize the test coverage code and make sure we are as close
as we can get to testing regular traffic.

Use netdev_alloc_skb since it handles any NUMA node memory localtion issues
and sets skb->dev. Since device driver was not setting skb->dev, I bet
filter rules based on device would not work.

Any negative return value from start_xmit is interpreted as NETDEV_TX_LOCK
which is not what this driver wants. It should return 0 (NETDEV_TX_OK)
when it consumes a packet.
Also, use skb_padto() as the generic way to pad small frames.

This patch works around the MWI bug on the DC21143 rev 65 Tulip by
ensuring that the receive buffers don't end on a cache line boundary
(as documented in the errata).
This patch is required for the MIPS based Cobalt Qube/RaQ as
supporting the extra PCI commands seems to reduce the chance of a hard
lockup between the Tulip and the PCI bridge.

winbond-840 shares tulip.h with the tulip driver, because they share
many (but not all) of the same register definitions.
This is useful for the register definitions, but not helpful when it
comes to symbols that are shared among the tulip driver's C modules,
but not meant to be shared outside that one driver.
Thus, PKT_BUF_SZ is a symbol internal to tulip, but it was intruding
upon a similar symbol in winbond-840's namespace. This was not a
problem as long as the two symbols had the same value, but upcoming
patches result in differing symbol values.

excessively difficult. For now, just convert it to a string, and
change all instances of "bus->id = val" to

Poll the completed TX frames in gfar_poll(). This prevents the tx
completion interrupt from interfering with processing of received
frames.
We also disable hardware rx coalescing when NAPI is enabled.

This patch revises the logging for link informations of spidernet.
- The link down message is too verbose because auto-negotiation timeout
occurs periodically while an ethernet cable is not connected.
- We want to see the link result, and we think it should be displayed.

In addition to the value of GHIINT0STS, spidernet interrupt handler
should check the values of GHIINT1STS/GHIINT2STS registers at the
beginning of spider_net_interrupt() so as not to drop error
interrupts.
GHIINT1STS/GHIINT2STS registers indicates some of erroneous conditions
in spidernet, and a few bits of GHIINT0STS register reflects these
conditions. But GHIINT0MSK masks these bits, so you should check these
conditions by reading GHIINT1STS/GHIINT2STS registers directly.

This patch does 3 things
1) It removes the statistics work. The request statistics command is
sent in ASYNC mode in this flow, the mutex is uneeded, so the request
statistics function can't go to sleep. No need for a workqueue anymore.
2) iwl4965_send_statistics_request has been renamed to
iwl_send_statistics_request and moved to iwl-core.c
3) A request for statistics is sent in alive_notify, the makes the uCode
sends statistics notification periodically starting from association.

This adds a fastpath for the common workloads to the
MAC suspend flushing.
In common workloads the FIFO flush will take between 100 and
200 microseconds. So we want to avoid calling msleep() in the
common case, as it will waste over 800 microseconds + scheduler
overhead.
This fastpath will hit in workloads where only small chunks
of data are transmitted (downloading a file) or when a TX rate bigger
or equal to 24MBit/s is used when transmitting lots of stuff (iperf).
So in the commonly used workloads it will basically always hit.
In case the fastpath is not hit, there's no real performance or latency
disadvantage from that.
And yes, I measured this. So this is not one of these
bad Programmer Likeliness Assumptions that are always wrong. ;)

Do not use workqueue for bss_info_changed post association work.
When driver is notified of association the upper layer will be notified
right after that the association is complete. Doing the post association
work in a workqueue introduces a race condition where the upper layer may
want to make use of the association, but it is not yet complete.

This patch (co-developed by Dan Williams and Holger Schurig) uses a kfifo
object for events and a swapping buffer scheme for the command response to
preserve the zero-copy semantics of the CF driver and keep memory usage low.
The main thread should only ever touch the buffer indexed by priv->resp_idx,
while the interface code is free to write to the second buffer, then swap
priv->resp_idx under the driver spinlock. The firmware specs only permit
one in-flight command, so there will only ever be one command response to
process at a time.

In rt2x00lib_intf_scheduled_iter() we use the hw->beacon_update()
callback function. This means that it should behave similarly as mac80211
when that uses the function.
This means that the skb should only be freed when beacon_update() has failed,
otherwise the driver is the owner and is responsible for freeing the buffer.

This is basically means that a net is set for a new device, but
actually also involves two more steps:
1. mark the tun device as "local", i.e. do not allow for it to
move across namespaces.
This is done so, since tun device is most often associated to some
file (and thus to some process) and moving the device alone is not
valid while keeping the file and the process outside. The need in
ability to move a detached persistent device is to be investigated
later.
2. get the tun device's net when tun becomes attached and put one
when it becomes detached.
This is needed to handle the case when a task owning the tun dies,
but a files lives for some more time - in this case we must not
allow for net to be freed, since its exit hook will spoil that file's
private data by unregistering the tun from under tun_chr_close.

Remove the static tun_dev_list and replace its occurrences in
driver with per-net one.
It is used in two places - in tun_set_iff and tun_cleanup. In
the first case it's legal to use current net_ns. In the cleanup
call - move the loop, that unregisters all devices in net exit
hook.

This is the first step in making tuntap devices work in net
namespaces. The structure mentioned is pointed by generic
net pointer with tun_net_id id, and tun driver fills one on
its load. It will contain only the tun devices list.
So declare this structure and introduce net init and exit hooks.

This fixes DMA on architectures where DMA is nontrivial, like PPC64.
We must use the host-device's (PCI) struct device for any DMA
operation instead of the SSB device. For this we add a new
struct device pointer to the SSB device structure that will always
point to the right device for DMAing.
Without this patch b43 and b44 drivers won't work on complex-DMA
architectures, that for example need dev->archdata for DMA operations.

This allows for the correct initial values to be uploaded to bcm4303
devices. It should be correct, but I can't reliably test this as I suspect
there's something going wrong with an hardware rfkill switch on my laptop.

This adds missing priv->vif assignments after "mac80211: don't use
interface indices in drivers" change. As rtl8180, rtl8187 also needs
priv->vif to be set, as without this an oops can happen in rtl8187_tx
function (priv->vif is passed to ieee80211_rts_duration).

Since 0bcc181618 (netconsole: Support
dynamic reconfiguration using configfs), the netconsole is always
registered, regardless of whether the user actually specified a
netconsole configuration on the command line.
However because netconsole has CON_PRINTBUFFER set, when it is
registered it causes the printk buffer to be replayed to all consoles.
When there is no netconsole configured this is a) pointless, and b)
somewhat annoying for the user of the existing console.
So instead we should only set CON_PRINTBUFFER if there is a netconsole
configuration found on the command line. This retains the existing
behaviour if a netconsole is setup by the user, and avoids spamming
other consoles when we're only registering for the dynamic
netconsole case.

The driver stores the PCI resource addresses into 'unsigned long' variable
before calling ioremap_nocache() on them. This warrants kernel oops when the
registers are accessed on PPC 44x platforms which (being 32-bit) have PCI
memory space mapped beyond 4 GB.
The arch/ppc/ kernel has a fixup in ioremap() that creates an illusion that
the PCI memory resource is mapped below 4 GB, but arch/powerpc/ code got rid
of this trick, having instead CONFIG_RESOURCES_64BIT enabled.

PPP support in generic HDLC in Linux 2.6.25 is broken and will cause
a kernel panic when a device configured in PPP mode is activated.
It will be replaced by new PPP implementation after Linux 2.6.25 is
released.
This affects only PPP support in generic HDLC (mostly Hitachi SCA
and SCA-II based drivers, wanxl, and few others). Standalone syncppp
and async PPP support are not affected.

This critical patch fixes a mac address issue recently introduced. If the
device's mac address was in correct order and the flag
NVREG_TRANSMITPOLL_MAC_ADDR_REV was set, during nv_remove the flag would get
cleared. During next load, the mac address would get reversed because the
flag is missing.
As it has been indicated previously, the flag is cleared across a low power
transition. Therefore, the driver should set the mac address back into the
reversed order when clearing the flag.
Also, the driver should set back the flag after a low power transition to
protect against kexec command calling nv_probe a second time.

Any usage of sky2 on new Yukon Supreme would cause a NULL dereference.
The chip is very new, so the support is still untested; vendor has
not sent any eval hardware.

If print_mac() is used inside of a pr_debug() the compiler
can't see that the call is redundant so still performs it
even of pr_debug() ends up being a nop.
So don't use print_mac() in such cases in hot code paths,
use MAC_FMT et al. instead.
As noted by Joe Perches, pr_debug() could be modified to
handle this better, but that is a change to an interface
used by the entire kernel and thus needs to be validated
carefully. This here is thus the less risky fix for
2.6.25

When doing firmware-assisted scanning, iwlwifi drivers do not
honour the regulatory control code that might disable channels
that are enabled in the EEPROM, for example when the user is
visiting another country and adjusted the regulatory domain
accordingly. This patch fixes that.

Now rt2x00lib handles the initial configure_filter() command, we can
directly call lib->config_filter() in scheduled context since the
called function will no longer check if anything has changed (which is
now handled in rt2x00lib as well).
This fixes a endless loop with USB drivers where the config_filter
command was scheduled time and time again without sending any command
to the device.

This changes the b43-PIO code to use the new SSB block-I/O.
This reduces the overhead by removing lots of function calls, pointer
dereferencing, if-conditionals any byteswapping for each packet data word.
This also fixes a harmless sparse endianness warning.

Can you please take a look at this patch?
drivers/net/wireless/wavelan_cs.c has unusually large number
of static inline functions - 27.
I looked through them and 20 of them do not seem to warrant inlining.
Some are really big; others call mdelay(1) or busy-wait for a bit
to be set in a hardware register - it's pointless
to optimize such functions for speed.
This patch removes "inline" from these static function
(regardless of number of callsites - gcc nowadays auto-inlines
statics with one callsite).

This adds PIO support back (D'oh!) for PCMCIA devices.
This is a complete rewrite of the old PIO code. It does actually work
and we get reasonable performance out of it on a modern machine.
On a PowerBook G4 I get a few MBit for TX and a few more for RX.
So it doesn't work as well as DMA (of course), but it's a _lot_ faster
than the old PIO code (only got a few kBit with that).
The limiting factor is the host CPU speed. So it will generate 100%
CPU usage when the network interface is heavily loaded. A voluntary preemption
point in the RX path makes sure Desktop Latency isn't hurt.
PIO is needed for 16bit PCMCIA devices, as we really don't want to poke with
the braindead DMA mechanisms on PCMCIA sockets. Additionally, not all
PCMCIA sockets do actually support DMA in 16bit mode (mine doesn't).

Commit bada339ba2 enforces that all
interfaces have a valid MAC address before they are brought up.
ipw2200 does not assign a MAC address to it's radiotap interface, meaning
that the radiotap interface cannot be brought up in 2.6.24.

The 'disable_cb' is really just a hint and as such, it's possible for more
work to get queued up while callbacks are disabled. Under stress with an
SMP guest, this printk triggers very frequently. There is no race here, this
is how things are designed to work so let's just remove the printk.

The 5784 B step and newer chips require the PHY DSPs to be fine-tuned
based on one-time programmable values stored in the chip. This is
essential to achieve optimal PHY operations especially when using
long cables. We also need to properly handle the 10Mbit RX bit in the
CPMU_CTRL register during PHY reset.

This gets the FEC ethernet driver working again on the lite5200
platform.
The FEC driver is also compatible with the MPC5200, not only with the
MPC5200B, so this adds a suitable entry to the driver's match list.
Furthermore this adds the settings for the PHY in the dts file for the
Lite5200. Note, that this is not exactly the same as in the
Lite5200B, because the PHY is located at f0003000:01 for the 5200, and
at :00 for the 5200B. This was tested on a Lite5200 and a Lite5200B,
both booted a kernel via tftp and mounted the root via nfs
successfully.

There are a couple of possible races on suspend/resume.
First the driver needs to block new packets from being queued for Tx.
The other less likely problem is the watchdog timer going off
during resume.

Implement triggers inside rt2x00 itself based
on input from mac80211. This replaces the method
of using the mac80211 trigger events which do
not work for USB drivers due to the scheduling
requirement.
After this patch RT2500USB_LEDS and RT73USB_LEDS
no longer need to be tagged as broken since they
now support LED handling again without having to
check for in_atomic().

The TO_DS filter does not only depend on the FIF_PROMISC_IN_BSS flag
provided by mac80211, but also on the intf_ap_count count.
This makes sense, since when Master mode is active, we should all frames
that are send to the active AP (the device itself).
This means that when an interface is added we should force the
packet filter to be updated during the next mac80211 call of
configure_filter() to make sure the intf_ap_count field is checked.

Invert the check for scheduling the packet_filter configuration.
When DRIVER_REQUIRE_SCHEDULED is not set we should immediately
configure the the filter.
This fixes the 'infinite calls to rt2x00mc_configure_filter'
bug reported by Bas Hulsken.

with flag in priv->status. It was used for reentrance protection
but clearly made it impossible to stuck more cards into the same machine

Having rate registration during module load enables the use of
error checking as well as reliable registration/unregistration
pairing. Previously this was not possible as rate registration
was done during _probe where _probe could be run for more than
one device on the system.

This patch fixed the OOPS when load the driver while rf-kill is on then
unload the driver right after load. a race condition caused the interupt
handler to schedule the tasklet which will run right after the driver pci_remove
causing invalid poiter OOPS.

This patch add notification function to be called by low level
iwl driver to notify iwlcore with current state. This function
will call iwlcore subsystem with the new state. This will
help make the code more consistent and easy to extend. For example
the rf-kill need to know when the driver in init, start, stop or
remove state. Instead doing the same call in 3945 and 4965, we
just do it from this function.

Confirm sleep event: they come very regularly, eventually several times per
second. Therefore we want to send the config command as fast as possible.
The old code pre-set the command in priv->lbs_ps_confirm_sleep. However, the
byte sequence to be sent to the hardware is the same for all interfaces. So
this patch make this an extern structure, initialized at module load time.
Config wake event: normal conversion to a direct command. However, I don't know
how to trigger a "HOST AWAKE" event from the firmware, so this part is
untested.

Plip uses spin_lock_irq/spin_unlock_irq in its IRQ handler (called from
parport IRQ handler), the latter enables interrupts without parport
subsystem IRQ handler expecting it.
The bug can be seen if you compile kernel with lock dependency checking
and use plip --- it produces a warning.
This patch changes it to spin_lock_irqsave/spin_lock_irqrestore, so that
it doesn't enable interrupts when already disabled.

This reorganization moves the PHY status into a separate
struct. Flow Control setup is moved into this struct as well
and frame size away from here into the adapter struct where its
inly use is.
The post-link-up code is now a separate function and moved out
of the watchdog function itself. This allows us to track the
es2lan restart issue a bit easier.

Convert 3c509 driver to isa_driver and pnp_driver. The result is that
autoloading using udev and hibernation works with ISA PnP cards. It also adds
hibernation support for non-PnP ISA cards.
xcvr module parameter was removed as its value was not used.
Tested using 3 ISA cards in various combinations of PnP and non-PnP modes.
EISA and MCA only compile-tested.

The asix usb driver currently depends on NET_ETHERNET which means you
cannot enable this driver if you only have 1000mbit enabled in your kernel.
Since there is no real dependency between the NET_ETHERNET portion and the
asix driver, simply drop it.

drivers/net/pasemi_mac.c is enabled by CONFIG_PASEMI_MAC, which depends on
PPC64 && PCI. However pasemi_mac.c uses several routines that are only
built when PPC_PASEMI is selected. This can lead to an unbuildable config:
ERROR: ".pasemi_dma_start_chan" [drivers/net/pasemi_mac.ko] undefined!
So make CONFIG_PASEMI_MAC depend on PPC_PASEMI instead of PPC64.

If "location" is > "addr_len" bits, the high bits of location would interfere
with the READ_CMD sent to the eeprom controller.
A patch was submitted to bug:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4420
which simply truncated the "location", read whatever was in "location
modulo addr_len", and returned that value. That avoids confusing the
eeprom but seems like the wrong solution to me.
Correct would be to not read beyond "1 << addr_len" address of the eeprom.
I am submitting two changes to implement this:
1) tulip_read_eeprom will return zero (since we can't return -EINVAL)
if this is attempted (defensive programming).
2) In tulip_core.c, fix the tulip_read_eeprom caller so they don't
iterate past addr_len bits and make sure the entire tp->eeprom[]
array is cleared.
I konw we don't strictly need both. I would prefer both in the tree
since it documents the issue and provides a second "defense" from
the bug from creeping back in.

This patch tries to make dmesg logs between different runs easier
to compare by
* removing the jiffies (use CONFIG_PRINTK_TIME if you need
timing)
* remove the line numbers, they change with each applied patch
It also changes the deprecated __FUNCTION__ to __func__ to make
checkpatch.pl happy.

This patch alters the A-MPDU MLME in sta_info to use dynamic allocation,
thus drastically improving memory usage - from a constant ~2 Kbyte in
the previous (static) allocation to a lower limit of ~200 Byte and an upper
limit of ~2 Kbyte.

This patch add LEDS support to 3965 and 4965 drivers. It is based on
led trigger and class. For our drivers we needed to avoid two things.
1- We receive led trigger on/off on each Rx\Tx frame. In our driver
we can not call led command like that. In this driver once driver
receive a start of traffic it call the led command to start blinking
then we count all bytes of Tx and Rx frame, after two second we count the
blink rate of last two second then id blink rate changed we call the led
commands
2- Since we can call led command very often, we make sure we call the

Some hardware never seem to accept the "goto sleep" command, since the legacy
drivers don't have suspend and resume handlers the entire code for it was
basically a educated guess (based on the "enable radio" code).
This patch will only print a warning when the "goto sleep" command fails, and
just continues as usual. Perhaps that means the device will not reach a sleep
state and consumes more power then it should, but it is equally possible it
simply needs some seconds longer to sleep. Anyway, by making the command
non-fatal it will not block the rest of the suspend procedure.

In commit e6bafba5b4, a bug was fixed that
involved converting !x & y to !(x & y). The code below shows the same
pattern, and thus should perhaps be fixed in the same way.
This is not tested and clearly changes the semantics, so it is only
something to consider.

This fixes a bug detected by CONFIG_DEBUG_SPINLOCK:
if_cs_get_int_status() is only called from lbs_thread(), via
priv->hw_get_int_status. However, lbs_thread() has already taken the
priv->driver_lock. So it's a fault to take the same lock again here.

- Fix Rx/Tx HW interrupt coalescing counter reset logic. Disabling
is required before resetting the counter.
- Update the Default both Rx and Tx coalescing timer
threshold. Formerly 4 is set which is equal to 1.5 frame at the line
rate of 1GbE interface, and it doesn't match to the coalescing frame
count which is set to 16. Threashold 21 is matched to frame count 16.

If the LAST bit is not set in the RxBD, it's possible we're processing
an incomplete frame, which is bad. While we're at it, add a constant
for the error bitmask, so the whole if-clause fits on one line,
and is more legible.

In gfar_change_mtu(), the frame size needs to be increased to account
for the extra 4 bytes VLAN adds to the ethernet header. However,
it was being increased by the length of the whole header (18 bytes),
which is wrong.

This patch adds support for BCM5481 PHY. Unfortunately it's hard to
get specifications for this PHY, so its special register 0x18 isn't
annotated properly (but we know it's used to set up the delays).
I've kept the magic numbers, so we'll not forget to fix it at the
first opportunity, and will name that register and its bits correctly.
p.s. also fixed the line with broken indention, introduced by
commit 03157ac31e

ixgb can remove irq_sem by auditing all the call sites to make sure
that each of them makes sure the adapter is in the correct state
before re-enabling interrupts. after doing this to all of our other
drivers it is becoming easier.

irq_sem was just a hack to prevent interrupts from being enabled
unexpectedly in deep call paths. Simply finding those call paths and
fixing them by hand results in a driver that behaves as we expect and
doesn't need the atomic at all.

Some ROMs on embedded devices store incorrect values for
the PHY address of the ethernet device.
It looks like the number is sign-extended.
Truncate the value by applying the PHY-address mask to it.
The patch was tested on a bcm47xx embedded system (where the bug
triggers) and a bcm4400 PCI card.

When query for OID_GEN_PHYSICAL_MEDIUM fails, uninitialized pointer
'phym' is being accessed in generic_rndis_bind(), resulting OOPS.
Patch fixes phym to be initialized and setup correctly when
rndis_query() for physical medium fails.

The problem is that reg_lock is used with plain spin_lock() in
drivers/net/cxgb3/sge.c but is used with spin_lock_irqsave() in
drivers/net/cxgb3/cxgb3_offload.c. This is technically a false
positive, since the uses in sge.c are only in the initialization and
cleanup paths and cannot overlap with any use in interrupt context.
The best fix is probably just to use spin_lock_irq() with reg_lock in
sge.c. Even though it's not strictly required for correctness, it
avoids triggering lockdep and the extra overhead of disabling
interrupts is not important at all in the initialization and cleanup
slow paths.

Marvell PHY m88e1111 (not sure about other models, but think they too)
works in two modes: fiber and copper. In Marvell PHY driver (that we
have in current community kernels) code supported only copper mode,
and this is not configurable, bits for copper mode are simply written
in registers during PHY initialization.
This patch adds support for both modes.

o eliminate tx lock in netxen adapter struct, instead pound on netdev
tx lock appropriately.
o remove old "concurrent transmit" code that unnecessarily drops and
reacquires tx lock in hard_xmit_frame(), this is already serialized
the netdev xmit lock.
o reduce scope of tx lock in tx cleanup. tx cleanup operates on
different section of the ring than transmitting cpus and is
guarded by producer and consumer indices. This fixes a race
caused by rx softirq preemption on realtime kernels.

o separate and simpler irq handler for msi interrupts, avoids few checks
than legacy mode.
o avoid redudant tx_has_work() and rx_has_work() checks in interrupt
and napi, which can uncork irq based on racy (lockless) access to tx
and rx ring indices. If we get interrupt, there's sufficient reason to
schedule napi.
o replenish rx ring more often, remove self-imposed threshold rcv_free
that prevents posting rx desc to card. This improves performance in
low memory.

Recent netxen firmware has new scheme of generating MSI interrupts, it
raises interrupt and blocks itself, waiting for driver to unmask. This
reduces chance of spurious interrupts.
The driver will be able to deal with older firmware as well.

For bonding interfaces any attempt to read the sysfs directory contents after
module removal results in an oops. The fix is to release sysfs attributes
for the interfaces upon module unload.

Fix two compiler warnings that are new with recent versions of gcc
(apparently 4.2 and up). One is fixed by refactoring; this change was
supplied by Stephen Hemminger. The other was fixed by labelling the
variable as uninitialized_var() after confirming via inspection that it
cannot actually be used uninitialized.

The 802.3ad state machine lock can be acquired in both softirq and
not softirq context, but was not held at _bh to prevent a deadlock (which
could occur if a LACPDU arrived and was processed while the lock was
held).
Corrected this, now hold the state machine lock at _bh to prevent
deadlock.

rt73usb and rt2500usb used in_atomic to determine
if a configuration step should be rescheduled or not.
Since in_atomic() is not a valid method to determine
if sleeping is allowed we should fix the way this is handled
by adding a new flag to rt2x00.
In addition mark LED class support for the drivers broken
since that also uses the broken in_atomic() method but
so far no solution exists to have LED triggers work only
in scheduled context.

It has been observed on rt2500pci hardware that some
frames received with signal 0x0C do not have the OFDM
flag set.
Signals can have 2 meanings:
1) The PLCP value
2) The bitrate * 10
For rt2500pci (1) is for frames received with a OFDM rate,
and (2) is for frames received with a CCK rate.
But 0x0C is a invalid bitrate value but is a valid PLCP
value for 54Mbs (obvious OFDM rate).
This means that it is possible that the hardware does not
set the OFDM bit correctly under all circumstances.
This results in rt2x00 failing to detect the rate and
mac80211 triggering a WARN_ON() and dropping the frame.
To bypass this, print a warning when such a frame is received,
and reset the rate to the lowest supported rate for the current band.

The rxdone_entry_desc structure contains 3 fields
which are always 1 or 0. We can safe 8 bytes by
replacing them with a single dev_flags fields which
contain the flags for those settings.
Additionally we can remove the OFDM flag since it
is no longer used since the introduction of the
SIGNAL_PLCP flag.

This patch adds translation for the RX status of an incoming packet.
The incoming status has to be translated to the old scheme in order to know
if the decryption has been done, MIC failure has occured, TTAK is valid etc...
This translation is mandatory for all RX packets when using 5300 and for
all HT packets using 4965.

Don't store an (hardware base) u8 value in bss_descriptor, but just an
unsigned int (RSSI is really unsigned). Compilers generate more efficent
code for ints than for bytes.

Now uses __lbs_cmd() to get the "log" (it's actually more a snapshot of
various counters, not a sequential log). Besides the "mechanical" convertion
the patch add the following logical changes:
* Removes the priv->logmsg variable, it was only used in one place anyway,
also don't blindly get the counters when associating. Getting the
counters then the user asks via WEXT for them is good enought.
* don't set wstats.discard.fragment with log.rxfrag, because the latter is
a counter for successfully received packets, not for fragmented packets.

This uses a static lbs_cmd_async_callback function, which is a
noop. Just setting the callback argument to __lbs_cmd_async()
to NULL won't work, because then the cmdnode wouldn't be
released.
This also makes __lbs_cmd_async() a static method, which is
now only used by lbs_cmd() and lbs_cmd_async().

Neither CMD_802_11_PAIRWISE_TSC nor CMD_802_11_GROUP_TSC is used or
documented. It might have something to do with TKIP sequence counters,
but that's just an educated guess. Remove all occurences of them.
CMD_CODE_DNLD is also neither used nor documented.

The iwlxxxx_pci_remove functions are not needed when drivers are not
compiled as modules - they can thus be discarded at kernel link time.
This is already captured by having them as __devexit_p in the pci_driver
struct - these are supposed to be pointers to __devexit functions, but was not.
This is now fixed.
This problem was reported by Toralf Forster when testing the compilation of
2.6.25-rc6.

This patch fixes a synchronization problem on the 4965 and 3945 with the
mac start callback routine. The problem is that this function exits BEFORE the
'xxx_alive_start' has completed. This can lead to a problem if a
subsequent MAC callback attempts to issue a firmware command.

If the reg property is missing from the phy node (unlikely, but possible),
then the kernel will oops with a NULL pointer dereference. This fixes
it by checking the pointer first.

On 10GBaseT boards setting the type to TP will cause the driver to try
to configure 1GBaseT.
Since there are currently no boards that support setting of the port
type, disable this for now.

This is a critical patch which adds a workaround for a HW bug. The patch
will limit the number of outstanding tx packets to 16. Otherwise, the HW
could send out packets with bad checksums.
The driver will still setup the tx packets into the ring, however, will
only set the Valid bit on 16 packets at a time.

The last change in the Tx queue stop mechanism opens a window
where the Tx queue might be stopped after pending credits
returned.
Tx credits are returned via a control message generated by the HW.
It returns tx credits on demand, triggered by a completion bit
set in selective transmit packet headers.
The current code can lead to the Tx queue stopped
with all pending credits returned, and the current frame
not triggering a credit return. The Tx queue will then never be
awaken.
The driver could alternatively request a completion for packets
that stop the queue. It's however safer at this point to go back
to the pre-existing behaviour.

This patch should resolve a problem that's troubled support for
some RNDIS peripherals. It seems to have boiled down to using a
variable to establish transfer size limits before it was assigned,
which caused those devices to fallback to a default "jumbogram"
mode we don't support. Fix by assigning it earlier for RNDIS.

When a pause packet(with destination as reserved Multicast address) is
received by the EMAC hardware to control the flow of frames being
transmitted by it, it is dropped by the hardware unless the reserved
Multicast address is hashed in to the GAHT[1-4] registers. This code fix
adds the default reserved multicast address to the GAHT[1-4] registers
in the EMAC(s) present on the chip. The flow control with Pause packets
will only work if the following register bits are programmed in EMAC:
EMACx_MR1[APP] = 1
EMACx_RMR[BAE] = 1
EMACx_RMR[MAE] = 1
Behavior that may be observed in a running system
-------------------------------------------------
A host transferring data from a PPC based system may send a Pause packet
to the PPC EMAC requesting it to slow down the flow of packets. If the
default reserved multicast MAC address is not programmed into the
GAHT[1-4] registers this Pause packet will be dropped by PPC EMAC and no
Flow Control will be done.

The fix is to let enable_cb not disable the interrupt again, but expect the
caller to do the cleanup if it returns false. In that case, the interrupt is
only disabled, if the napi test_set_bit was successful.
