774430026b ip_gre: validate csum_start only on pull
[ Upstream commit 8a0ed250f911da31a2aef52101bc707846a800ff ]

The GRE tunnel device can pull existing outer headers in ipge_xmit.
This is a rare path, apparently unique to this device. The below
commit ensured that pulling does not move skb->data beyond csum_start.

But it has a false positive if ip_summed is not CHECKSUM_PARTIAL and
thus csum_start is irrelevant.

Refine to exclude this. At the same time simplify and strengthen the
test.

Simplify, by moving the check next to the offending pull, making it
more self documenting and removing an unnecessary branch from other
code paths.

Strengthen, by also ensuring that the transport header is correct and
therefore the inner headers will be after skb_reset_inner_headers.
The transport header is set to csum_start in skb_partial_csum_set.

Validate csum_start in gre_handle_offloads before we call _gre_xmit so

This patch deals with ipv4 code.

cd3ecf114c ip_gre: set dev->hard_header_len and dev->needed_headroom properly
[ Upstream commit fdafed459998e2be0e877e6189b24cb7a0183224 ]

GRE tunnel has its own header_ops, ipgre_header_ops, and sets it
conditionally. When it is set, it assumes the outer IP header is
already created before ipgre_xmit().

This is not true when we send packets through a raw packet socket,
where L2 headers are supposed to be constructed by user. Packet
socket calls dev_validate_header() to validate the header. But
GRE tunnel does not set dev->hard_header_len, so that check can
be simply bypassed, therefore uninit memory could be passed down
to ipgre_xmit(). Similar for dev->needed_headroom.

dev->hard_header_len is supposed to be the length of the header
created by dev->header_ops->create(), so it should be used whenever
header_ops is set, and dev->needed_headroom should be used when it
is not set.

[ Upstream commit e1f8f78ffe9854308b9e12a73ebe4e909074fc33 ]

ERSPAN shares most of the code path with GRE and gretap code. While that
helps keep the code compact, it is also error prone. Currently a broken
userspace can turn a gretap tunnel into a de facto ERSPAN one by passing
IFLA_GRE_ERSPAN_VER. There has been a similar issue in ip6gretap in the
past.

To prevent these problems in future, split the newlink and changelink code
paths. Split the ERSPAN code out of ipgre_netlink_parms() into a new
function erspan_netlink_parms(). Extract a piece of common logic from
ipgre_newlink() and ipgre_changelink() into ipgre_newlink_encap_setup().
Add erspan_newlink() and erspan_changelink().

cde81154f8 ip: validate header length on virtual device xmit
[ Upstream commit cb9f1b783850b14cbd7f87d061d784a666dfba1f ]

KMSAN detected read beyond end of buffer in vti and sit devices when
passing truncated packets with PF_PACKET. The issue affects additional
ip tunnel devices.

Extend commit 76c0ddd8c3 ("ip6_tunnel: be careful when accessing the
inner header") and commit ccfec9e5cb ("ip_tunnel: be careful when
accessing the inner header").

Move the check to a separate helper and call at the start of each
ndo_start_xmit function in net/ipv4 and net/ipv6.

Minor changes:
- convert dev_kfree_skb to kfree_skb on error path,
  as dev_kfree_skb calls consume_skb which is not for error paths.
- use pskb_network_may_pull even though that is pedantic here,
  as the same as pskb_may_pull for devices without llheaders.
- do not cache ipv6 hdrs if used only once
  (unsafe across pskb_may_pull, was more relevant to earlier patch)

77a5196a80 gre: add sequence number for collect md mode.
Currently GRE sequence number can only be used in native
tunnel mode. This patch adds sequence number support for
gre collect metadata mode. RFC2890 defines GRE sequence
number to be specific to the traffic flow identified by the
key. However, this patch does not implement per-key seqno.
The sequence number is shared in the same tunnel device.
That is, different tunnel keys using the same collect_md
tunnel share single sequence number.

Determining whether a device is a GRE device is easily done by
inspecting struct net_device.type. However, for the tap variants, the
type is just ARPHRD_ETHER.

Therefore introduce two predicate functions that use netdev_ops to tell
the tap devices.

ffc2b6ee41 ip_gre: fix IFLA_MTU ignored on NEWLINK
It's safe to remove the setting of dev's needed_headroom and mtu in
__gre_tunnel_init, as discussed in [1], ip_tunnel_newlink can do it
properly.

Now Eric noticed that it could cover the mtu value set in do_setlink
when creating a ip_gre dev. It makes IFLA_MTU param not take effect.

So this patch is to remove them to make IFLA_MTU work, as in other
ipv4 tunnels.

Commit d350a82302 ("net: erspan: create erspan metadata uapi header")
moves the erspan 'version' in front of the 'struct erspan_md2' for

to between the erspan_metadata and erspan_base_hdr. This patch

cfddd4c33c ip_gre: remove the incorrect mtu limit for ipgre tap

("net: centralize net_device min/max MTU checking"), the range
of mtu is [min_mtu, max_mtu], which is [68, 1500] by default.

It causes the dev mtu of the ipgre tap device to not be greater

Besides, it's .change_mtu already does the right check. So this
patch is just to set max_mtu as 0, and leave the check to it's

dd9d598c66 ip_gre: add the support for i/o_flags update via netlink
Now ip_gre is using ip_tunnel_changelink to update it's properties, but
ip_tunnel_changelink in ip_tunnel doesn't update i/o_flags as a common
function.

o_flags updates would cause that tunnel->tun_hlen / hlen and dev->mtu /
needed_headroom need to be recalculated, and dev->(hw_)features need to
be updated as well.

Therefore, we can't just add the update into ip_tunnel_update called
in ip_tunnel_changelink, and it's also better not to touch ip_tunnel
codes.

This patch updates i/o_flags and calls ipgre_link_update to recalculate
these gre properties after ip_tunnel_changelink does the common update.

Note that since ipgre_link_update doesn't know the lower dev, it will
update gre->hlen, dev->mtu and dev->needed_headroom with the value of
'new tun_hlen - old tun_hlen'. In this way, we can avoid many redundant
codes, unlike ip6_gre.
