3f0060b0e8 m68k: do not use m68k startup or interrupt code for ColdFire CPUs
The ColdFire CPUs have their own startup and interrupt code (in the
platform/coldfire directory), and do not use the general m68k startup and
interrupt code. In fact the use of the arch/m68k/kernel/head.o is not about
CONFIG_MMU or not, it is really about the machine type we are compiling for.

Modify the selection and use of head.o to be based on the machine type.
Only select the local ints.o and vectors.o code if we are using the classic
68k CPU types (that use the conventional Morotola MMU or SUN3 MMU).

0a2796da11 m68k: add ColdFire FPU support for the V4e ColdFire CPUs
The V4e ColdFire CPU family also has an integrated FPU (as well as the MMU).
So add code to support this hardware along side the existing m68k FPU code.

The ColdFire FPU is of course different to all previous 68k FP units. It is
close in operation to the 68060, but not completely compatible. The biggest
issue to deal with is that the ColdFire FPU multi-move instructions are
different. It does not support multi-moving the FP control registers, and
the multi-move of the FP data registers uses a different instruction
mnemonic.

e9fcffa493 m68k: adjustments to stack frame for ColdFire with MMU enabled
The exception return stack adjustment required by ColdFire when running
with the MMU enabled is not completely identical to 680x0 processors.
Specifically the format type 4 stack frame doesn't need any stack
adjustment on exception return. And the ColdFire always must return with
a frame type of 4, not 0.

ed865e31a8 m68k: use non-MMU linker script for ColdFire MMU builds
Use the non-MMU linker script for ColdFire builds when we are building
for MMU enabled. The image layout is correct for loading on existing
ColdFire dev boards. The only addition required to the current non-MMU
linker script is to add support for the fixup section.

4a13c6dc64 m68k: ColdFire with MMU enabled uses same clocking code as non-MMU
We want to use the same timer support code for ColdFire CPU's when
running with MMU enabled or not. So use the same time_no.c code even
when the MMU is enabled for ColdFire. This also means we do not want
CONFIG_ARCH_USES_GETTIMEOFFSET set, since that code is only in time_mm.c.

3731454033 m68k: add code to setup a ColdFire 54xx platform when MMU enabled
We use the same setup code for ColdFire MMU enabled platforms as
standard m68k. So add support for it to setup our 54xx ColdFire
platforms. They do not support the same bootinfo parsing as other
m68k platforms.

d49316e84b m68k: use ColdFire MMU read/write bit flags when ioremapping
The ColdFire MMU has separate read and write bits, unlike the Motorola
m68k MMU which has a single read-only bit.

Define a _PAGE_READWRITE value for the Motorola MMU, which is 0, so we
can unconditionaly include that in the page table entry bits when setting
up ioremapped pages.

8b38f3c923 m68k: use tracehook_report_syscall_entry/exit for ColdFire MMU ptrace path
The existing ColdFire code (which is all non-mmu) for system call entry
and exit uses the more modern tracehook_report_syscall_entry()/exit()
into the ptrace code. Now that we are supporting ColdFire with MMU we
need the same hooks for these.

Like the SUN3 hardware MMU the ColdFire MMU uses 8k pages. So we want
our ELF page size alingment to also be 8k. Modify the ELF alignment
setting.

bfe4375a1a m68k: define PAGE_OFFSET_RAW for ColdFire CPU with MMU enabled
The ColdFire CPU configurations need PAGE_OFFSET_RAW set to the base of
their RAM. It doesn't matter if they are running with the MMU enabled or
disabled, it is always set to the base of RAM.

We can keep the choices simple here and key of CONFIG_RAMBASE. If it is
defined we are on a plaftorm (ColdFire or other non-MMU systems) which
have a configurable RAM base, just use it.

ae2eca724a m68k: add cache support for V4e ColdFire cores running with MMU enabled
Add code to deal with instruction, data and branch caches of the V4e
ColdFire cores when they are running with the MMU enabled.

This code is loosely based on Freescales changes for the caches of the
V4e ColdFire in the 2.6.25 kernel BSP. That code was originally by

So we need to create a set of definitions and support routines
for the kernels paging functions.

This is largely taken from Freescales BSP code for this (though it
was a 2.6.25 kernel). I have cleaned it up alot from the original.

bbc6f1ba50 m68k: set register a2 to current if MMU enabled on ColdFire
Virtual memory m68k systems build with register a2 dedicated to being the
current proc pointer (non-MMU don't do this). Add code to the ColdFire
interrupt and exception processing to set this on entry, and at context
switch time. We use the same GET_CURRENT() macro that MMU enabled code
uses - modifying it so that the assembler is ColdFire clean.

88be351593 m68k: add ColdFire 54xx CPU MMU memory init code
Add code to the 54xx ColdFire CPU init to setup memory ready for the m68k
paged memory start up.

Some of the RAM variables that were specific to the non-mmu code paths
now need to be used during this setup, so when CONFIG_MMU is enabled.
Move these out of page_no.h and into page.h.

The 54xx ColdFire CPU family has an internal MMU. Up to now though we
have only supported running on them with the MMU disabled.

Add code to the 54xx ColdFire init sequence to initialize the bootmem
used by the usual MMU m68k code for paging init.

feb1ee7595 m68k: use addr_limit checking for m68k CPUs that do no support address spaces
The ColdFire CPU family, and the original 68000, do not support separate
address spaces like the other 680x0 CPU types. Modify the set_fs()/get_fs()
functions and macros to use a thread_info addr_limit for address space
checking. This is pretty much what all other architectures that do not
support separate setable address spaces do.

e08d703cc2 m68k: modify user space access functions to support ColdFire CPUs
Modify the user space access functions to support the ColdFire V4e cores
running with MMU enabled.

The ColdFire processors do not support the "moves" instruction used by
the traditional 680x0 processors for moving data into and out of another
address space. They only support the notion of a single address space,
and you use the usual "move" instruction to access that.

Create a new config symbol (CONFIG_CPU_HAS_ADDRESS_SPACES) to mark the
CPU types that support separate address spaces, and thus also support
the sfc/dfc registers and the "moves" instruction that go along with that.

The code is almost identical for user space access, so lets just use a
define to choose either the "move" or "moves" in the assembler code.

78ccdffc93 m68k: make interrupt definitions conditional on correct CPU types
The interrupt handling support defines and code is not so much conditional
on an MMU being present (CONFIG_MMU), as it is on which type of CPU we are
building for. So make the code conditional on the CPU types instead. The
current irq.h is mostly specific to the interrupt code for the 680x0 CPUs,
so it should only be used for them.

2c85bd3189 m68knommu: remove no longer used rom_length from Palm/Pilot start up code
Compiling for the m68knommu/68328 Palm/Pilot target you get:

"rom_length" is not used any longer by any of the m68knommu code.
So remove it from here too.

c0e0c89c08 m68knommu: fix broken boot logo inclusion
Compiling for the m68knommu/68328 Palm/Pilot target you get:

  AS      arch/m68k/platform/68328/head-pilot.o
arch/m68k/platform/68328/head-pilot.S:37:23: fatal error: bootlogo.rh: No such file or directory

The build for this target used to do a conversion on a C coded boot logo
and include this in the head assembler code. This got broken by changes to
the local Makefile.

Clean all this up by just including the C coded boot logo struct in the
C code. With the appropriate alignment attribute there is no difference
to the way it can be used.

Following is happened when CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_S3C24XX_DEBUGFS
is selected without building of s3c2410-iotiming.c file:

arch/arm/mach-s3c2440/built-in.o:(.data+0x38c): undefined reference to `s3c2410_iotiming_debugfs

Basically, the CONFIG_S3C2410_IOTIMING is not selected for
MACH_MINI2440. Because the s3c2410-iotiming.c is not ever
compiled and enabling CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_S3C24XX_DEBUGFS option
caused undefined reference to s3c2410_iotiming_debugfs()
defined in that file.  The s3c2410_iotiming_debugfs defined
as NULL for this case.

c0d2b8376a net: meth: Add set_rx_mode hook to fix ICMPv6 neighbor discovery
SGI IP32 (O2)'s ethernet driver (meth) lacks a set_rx_mode function, which
prevents IPv6 from working completely because any ICMPv6 neighbor
solicitation requests aren't picked up by the driver.  So the machine can
ping out and connect to other systems, but other systems will have a very
hard time connecting to the O2.

251da03897 KVM: PPC: fix kvmppc_start_thread() for CONFIG_SMP=N
Currently kvmppc_start_thread() tries to wake other SMT threads via
xics_wake_cpu().  Unfortunately xics_wake_cpu only exists when
CONFIG_SMP=Y so when compiling with CONFIG_SMP=N we get:

The following should be fine since kvmppc_start_thread() shouldn't

4d25a066b6 KVM: Don't automatically expose the TSC deadline timer in cpuid
Unlike all of the other cpuid bits, the TSC deadline timer bit is set
unconditionally, regardless of what userspace wants.

This is broken in several ways:
 - if userspace doesn't use KVM_CREATE_IRQCHIP, and doesn't emulate the TSC
   deadline timer feature, a guest that uses the feature will break
 - live migration to older host kernels that don't support the TSC deadline
   timer will cause the feature to be pulled from under the guest's feet;
   breaking it
 - guests that are broken wrt the feature will fail.

Fix by not enabling the feature automatically; instead report it to userspace.
Because the feature depends on KVM_CREATE_IRQCHIP, which we cannot guarantee
will be called, we expose it via a KVM_CAP_TSC_DEADLINE_TIMER and not
KVM_GET_SUPPORTED_CPUID.

Fixes the Illumos guest kernel, which uses the TSC deadline timer feature.

a8cf27bee7 PM / shmobile: Allow the A4R domain to be turned off at run time
After adding PM QoS constraints for the I2C controller in the A4R
domain, that domain can be allowed to be turned off and on by runtime
PM, so remove the "always on" governor from it.

However, the A4R domain has to be "on" when suspend_device_irqs() and
resume_device_irqs() are executed during system suspend and resume,
respectively, so that those functions don't crash while accessing the
INTCS.  For this reason, add a PM notifier to the SH7372 PM code and
make it restore power to A4R before system suspend and remove power
from all unused PM domains after system resume.

767c0f3aed PM / shmobile: Remove the stay_on flag from SH7372's PM domains
SH7372 uses two independent mechanisms for ensuring that power
domains will never be turned off: the stay_on flag and the "always
on" domain governor.  Moreover, the "always on" governor is only taken
into accout by runtime PM code paths, while the stay_on flag affects
all attempts to turn the given domain off.  Thus setting the stay_on
flag causes the "always on" governor to be unnecessary, which is
quite confusing.

However, the stay_on flag is currently only set for two domains: A3SP
and A4S.  Moreover, it only is set for the A3SP domain if
console_suspend_enabled is set, so stay_on won't be necessary for
that domain any more if console_suspend_enabled is checked directly
in its .suspend() routine.  [This requires domain .suspend() to
return a result, but that is a minor modification.]  Analogously,
stay_on won't be necessary for the A4S domain if it's .suspend()
routine always returns an error code.

0f966d74cf PM / shmobile: Don't include SH7372's INTCS in syscore suspend/resume
Since the SH7372's INTCS in included into syscore suspend/resume,
which causes the chip to be accessed when PM domains have been
turned off during system suspend, the A4R domain containing the
INTCS has to stay on during system sleep, which is suboptimal
from the power consumption point of view.

For this reason, add a new INTC flag, skip_syscore_suspend, to mark
the INTCS for intc_suspend() and intc_resume(), so that they don't
touch it.  This allows the A4R domain to be turned off during
system suspend and the INTCS state is resrored during system
resume by the A4R's "power on" code.

f7dadb3793 PM / shmobile: Add support for the sh7372 A4S power domain / sleep mode
The sh7372 contains a power domain named A4S which in turn
contains power domains for both I/O Devices and CPU cores.

At this point only System wide Suspend-to-RAM is supported,
but the the hardware can also support CPUIdle. With more
efforts in the future CPUIdle can work with bot A4S and A3SM.

Tested on the sh7372 Mackerel board.

1f2aab01ba m68knommu: fix broken ColdFire slice timer read_clk() code
There is a race on reading the ColdFire slice timer current count and the
total clock count so far. Interrupts are off, and we may have just missed
getting a new timer wrap event interrupt. Check for this and adjust the
cycle count and current read count accordingly.

Also the slice timer counts down from the terminal count. So in read_clk()
we need take the current clock count away from the terminal count.

84f3fb7a2a m68k: handle presence of 64bit mul/div instructions cleanly
The traditional 68000 processors and the newer reduced instruction set
ColdFire processors do not support the 32*32->64 multiply or the 64/32->32
divide instructions. This is not a difference based on the presence of
a hardware MMU or not.

Create a new config symbol to mark that a CPU type doesn't support the
longer multiply/divide instructions. Use this then as a basis for using
the fast 64bit based divide (in div64.h) and for linking in the extra
libgcc functions that may be required (mulsi3, divsi3, etc).

7f73bafc46 m68k: simpler m68k and ColdFire CPU's can use generic csum code
We have two implementations of the IP checksuming code for the m68k arch.
One uses the more advanced instructions available in 68020 and above
processors, the other uses the simpler instructions available on the
original 68000 processors and the modern ColdFire processors.

This simpler code is pretty much the same as the generic lib implementation
of the IP csum functions. So lets just switch over to using that. That
means we can completely remove the checksum_no.c file, and only have the
local fast code used for the more complex 68k CPU family members.

479badc364 m68k: make fp register stores consistent for m68k and ColdFire
There is no reason we can't make the saved fp registers the same for all
m68k types and ColdFire. There is a little wasted space, but the code
consistency and cleanliness is a big win.

sigcontext.h is an exported header, but currently there is no in-mainline
users of the !__uClinux__ and __mcoldfire__ case that this change effects.
Even better this change actually makes this structure consistent with
the out-of-mainline ColdFire/MMU code.

46729d0eb3 m68knommu: no need to set register marker on traps
Commit 61619b1207 ("m68k: merge mmu and
non-mmu include/asm/entry.h files") made the trap entry code basically
the same for mmu and non-mmu builds. This means we no longer need code
to mark the stack frame as "system-call" type or other in the non-mmu
trap handling entry points. This is done in the SAVE_ALL_INT macro now.

d25ba98afc m68k: remove thread_info struct from thread struct
Currently on m68k we have a comeplete thread_info structure stored inside
of the thread_struct, and we also have it in the initial part of the kernel
stack. Mostly the code currently uses the one inside of the thread_struct,
only using the "task" pointer from the stack based one.

This is wasteful and confusing, we should only have the single instance of
thread_info inside the stack page. And this is the norm for all other
architectures.

This change makes m68k handle thread_info consistently on both MMU enabled
and non-MMU setups.

409ee2455c m68k: merge the init_task code for mmu and non-mmu targets
The init_task code can be the same for both mmu and non-mmu targets.
None of the alignment carried out in the the current init_task code
is necessary. The linker script takes care of aligning the init_thread
structure to a THREAD SIZE boundary, and that is all we need.

So use the init_task.c code for all target types, that makes m68k
code consistent with what most other architectures do.

4fd7f9b128 ARM: 7212/1: smp_twd: reconfigure clockevents after cpufreq change
This break-out from Colin Cross' cpufreq-aware TWD patch
will handle the case when our localtimer's clock changes with
the cpu clock. A cpufreq transtion notifier will be registered
only if the platform has supplied a specified clock to the TWD.

After a cpufreq transition, update the clockevent's frequency
by fetching the new clock rate from the clock framework and
reprogram the next clock event.

The necessary changes in the clockevents framework was done by
Thomas Gleixner in kernel v3.0.

5def51b0f8 ARM: 7211/1: smp_twd: get the rate from a clock
This break-out from Colin Cross' cpufreq-aware TWD patch will
optionally retrieve the clock rate of the TWD from an external
clock. A variant of this patch has been proposed by Rob Herring
as well.

The basic idea is to avoid recalibrating the rate of the clock
at boot if the platform already know what rate the clock to the
TWD block has.

workaround's direct dependencies if this makes otherwise reasonable
configuration choices impossible.

This patches uses the SMP/UP patching facilities instead to compile
out the workaround if the configuration means that it is definitely
not needed.

This means that configs for buggy silicon can simply select
ARM_ERRATA_751472, without preventing a UP kernel from being built
or duplicatiing knowledge about when to activate the workaround.
This seems the correct way to do things, because the erratum is a
property of the silicon, irrespective of what the kernel config
happens to be.

not active in UP kernels; hence it should be safe to turn on in UP

c284b42aba x86: Skip cpus with apic-ids >= 255 in !x2apic_mode
If the x2apic mode is disabled for reasons like interrupt-remapping
not available etc, then we need to skip the logical cpu bringup of
apic-id's >= 255. Otherwise as the platform is in xapic mode, init/startup
IPI's will consider only the low 8-bits and there is a possibility of
re-sending init/startup IPI's to the logical cpu that is already online.

This will avoid potential reboots/unpredictable behavior etc.

a31bc32760 x86, x2apic: Allow "nox2apic" to disable x2apic mode setup by BIOS
Currently "nox2apic" boot parameter was not enabling x2apic mode if the cpu,
kernel are all capable of enabling x2apic mode and the OS handover
happened in xapic mode.

However If the bios enabled x2apic prior to OS handover, using "nox2apic"
boot parameter had no effect.

If the boot cpu's apicid is < 255, enable "nox2apic" boot parameter to
disable the x2apic mode setup by the bios. This will enable the kernel to
fallback to xapic mode and bringup only the cpu's which has apic-id < 255.

fb209bd891 x86, x2apic: Fallback to xapic when BIOS doesn't setup interrupt-remapping
On some of the recent Intel SNB platforms, by default bios is pre-enabling
x2apic mode in the cpu with out setting up interrupt-remapping.
This case was resulting in the kernel to panic as the cpu is already in
x2apic mode but the OS was not able to enable interrupt-remapping (which
is a pre-req for using x2apic capability).

On these platforms all the apic-ids are < 255 and the kernel can fallback to
xapic mode if the bios has not enabled interrupt-remapping (which is
mostly the case if the bios has not exported interrupt-remapping tables to the
OS).

e8524b2f43 x86, apic: Add probe() for apic_flat
Currently we start with the default apic_flat mode and switch to some other
apic model depending on the apic drivers acpi_madt_oem_check() routines and
later followed by the apic drivers probe() routines.

Once we selected non flat mode there was no case where we fall back to
flat mode again.

Upcoming changes allow bios-enabled x2apic mode to be disabled by the OS
if interrupt-remapping etc is not setup properly by the bios.

We now has a case for the apic to fall back to legacy flat mode during
apic driver probe() seqeuence. Add a simple flat_probe() which allows
the apic_flat mode to be the last fallback option.

This change fixes a linking problem, which happens if oprofile
is selected to be compiled as built-in:

  `oprofile_arch_exit' referenced in section `.init.text' of
  arch/arm/oprofile/built-in.o: defined in discarded section
  `.exit.text' of arch/arm/oprofile/built-in.o

The problem is appeared after commit 87121ca504, which
introduced oprofile_arch_exit() calls from __init function. Note
that the aforementioned commit has been backported to stable
branches, and the problem is known to be reproduced at least
with 3.0.13 and 3.1.5 kernels.

7cc8583372 sparc64: Fix MSIQ HV call ordering in pci_sun4v_msiq_build_irq().
This silently was working for many years and stopped working on
Niagara-T3 machines.

We need to set the MSIQ to VALID before we can set it's state to IDLE.

On Niagara-T3, setting the state to IDLE first was causing HV_EINVAL
errors.  The hypervisor documentation says, rather ambiguously, that
the MSIQ must be "initialized" before one can set the state.

I previously understood this to mean merely that a successful setconf()
operation has been performed on the MSIQ, which we have done at this
point.  But it seems to also mean that it has been set VALID too.

After all sysdev classes are ported to regular driver core entities, the
sysdev implementation will be entirely removed from the kernel.

Userspace relies on events and generic sysfs subsystem infrastructure
from sysdev devices, which are made available with this conversion.

90363ddf0a PM: Drop generic_subsys_pm_ops
Since the PM core is now going to execute driver callbacks directly
if the corresponding subsystem callbacks are not present,
forward-only subsystem callbacks (i.e. such that only execute the
corresponding driver callbacks) are not necessary any more.  Thus
it is possible to remove generic_subsys_pm_ops, because the only
callback in there that is not forward-only, .runtime_idle, is not
really used by the only user of generic_subsys_pm_ops, which is
vio_bus_type.

However, the generic callback routines themselves cannot be removed
from generic_ops.c, because they are used individually by a number
of subsystems.

eba3d97db8 powerpc/boot: Change the WARN to INFO for boot wrapper overlap message
commit c55aef0e5b ("powerpc/boot: Change the load address
for the wrapper to fit the kernel") introduced a WARNING to
inform the user that the uncompressed kernel would overlap
the boot uncompressing wrapper code. Change it to an INFO.

I initially thought, this would be a 'WARNING' for the those
boards, where the link_address should be fixed, so that the
user can take actions accordingly.

Changing the same to INFO.

Add event maps for Intel x86 processors (with architected PMU v2 or later).

On AMD, there is frequency scaling but no Turbo. There is no core
cycle event not subject to frequency scaling, therefore we do not
provide a mapping.

141168c36c x86: Simplify code by removing a !SMP #ifdefs from 'struct cpuinfo_x86'
Several fields in struct cpuinfo_x86 were not defined for the
!SMP case, likely to save space.  However, those fields still
have some meaning for UP, and keeping them allows some #ifdef
removal from other files.  The additional size of the UP kernel
from this change is not significant enough to worry about
keeping up the distinction:

c55aef0e5b powerpc/boot: Change the load address for the wrapper to fit the kernel
The wrapper code which uncompresses the kernel in case of a 'ppc' boot
is by default loaded at 0x00400000 and the kernel will be uncompressed
to fit the location 0-0x00400000. But with dynamic relocations, the size
of the kernel may exceed 0x00400000(4M). This would cause an overlap
of the uncompressed kernel and the boot wrapper, causing a failure in
boot.

The message looks like :

   zImage starting: loaded at 0x00400000 (sp: 0x0065ffb0)
   Allocating 0x5ce650 bytes for kernel ...
   Insufficient memory for kernel at address 0! (_start=00400000, uncompressed size=00591a20)

This patch shifts the load address of the boot wrapper code to the next
higher MB, according to the size of  the uncompressed vmlinux.

With the patch, we get the following message while building the image :

 WARN: Uncompressed kernel (size 0x5b0344) overlaps the address of the wrapper(0x400000)
 WARN: Fixing the link_address of wrapper to (0x600000)

On BookE, we need __va() & __pa() early in the boot process to access
the device tree.

Currently this has been defined as :

 PHYSICAL_START is kernstart_addr - a variable updated at runtime.
 KERNELBASE	is the compile time Virtual base address of kernel.

This won't work for us, as kernstart_addr is dynamic and will yield different
results for __va()/__pa() for same mapping.

e.g.,

Let the kernel be loaded at 64MB and KERNELBASE be 0xc0000000 (same as
PAGE_OFFSET).

In this case, we would be mapping 0 to 0xc0000000, and kernstart_addr = 64M

Now __va(1MB) = (0x100000) - (0x4000000) + 0xc0000000
		= 0xbc100000 , which is wrong.

it should be : 0xc0000000 + 0x100000 = 0xc0100000

On platforms which support AMP, like PPC_47x (based on 44x), the kernel
could be loaded at highmem. Hence we cannot always depend on the compile
time constants for mapping.

Here are the possible solutions:

1) Update kernstart_addr(PHSYICAL_START) to match the Physical address of
compile time KERNELBASE value, instead of the actual Physical_Address(_stext).

The disadvantage is that we may break other users of PHYSICAL_START. They
could be replaced with __pa(_stext).

2) Redefine __va() & __pa() with relocation offset

   This introduces more calculations for doing the translation.

	__va(0x100000) = 0xc0000000 + 0x100000 = 0xc0100000
	 which is what we want.

I have implemented (3) in the following patch which has same cost of
operation as the existing one.

I have tested the patches on 440x platforms only. However this should
work fine for PPC_47x also, as we only depend on the runtime address

9c5f7d39a8 powerpc: Process dynamic relocations for kernel
The following patch implements the dynamic relocation processing for
PPC32 kernel. relocate() accepts the target virtual address and relocates
 the kernel image to the same.

Currently the following relocation types are handled :

	R_PPC_RELATIVE
	R_PPC_ADDR16_LO
	R_PPC_ADDR16_HI
	R_PPC_ADDR16_HA

The last 3 relocations in the above list depends on value of Symbol indexed
whose index is encoded in the Relocation entry. Hence we need the Symbol
Table for processing such relocations.

Note: The GNU ld for ppc32 produces buggy relocations for relocation types
that depend on symbols. The value of the symbols with STB_LOCAL scope

0f890c8d20 powerpc: Rename mapping based RELOCATABLE to DYNAMIC_MEMSTART for BookE
The current implementation of CONFIG_RELOCATABLE in BookE is based
on mapping the page aligned kernel load address to KERNELBASE. This
approach however is not enough for platforms, where the TLB page size
is large (e.g, 256M on 44x). So we are renaming the RELOCATABLE used
currently in BookE to DYNAMIC_MEMSTART to reflect the actual method.

The CONFIG_RELOCATABLE for PPC32(BookE) based on processing of the
dynamic relocations will be introduced in the later in the patch series.

This change would allow the use of the old method of RELOCATABLE for
platforms which can afford to enforce the page alignment (platforms with
smaller TLB size).

The former implementation adds a fix gpiochip label string
to the framework. This is confusing because orion_gpio_init
is called more than once and this ends up in different gpiochips

913050b91e oprofile: Fix uninitialized memory access when writing to writing to oprofilefs
If oprofilefs_ulong_from_user() is called with count equals
zero, *val remains unchanged. Depending on the implementation it
might be uninitialized.

Change oprofilefs_ulong_from_user()'s interface to return count
on success. Thus, we are able to return early if count equals
zero which avoids using *val uninitialized. Fixing all users of
oprofilefs_ulong_ from_user().

This follows write syscall implementation when count is zero:
"If count is zero ... [and if] no errors are detected, 0 will be
returned without causing any other effect." (man 2 write)

a2075a7aff imx6q: Remove unconditional dependency on l2x0 L2 cache support
The i.MX6 Quad SoC will work without the l2x0 L2 cache controller
support built into the kernel, so this patch removes the dependency
on CACHE_L2X0.

This makes the l2x0 support optional, so that it can be turned off
when desired for debugging purposes etc.

Since SOC_IMX6Q already depends on ARCH_IMX_V6_V7 and
ARCH_IMX_V6_V7 selects MIGHT_HAVE_CACHE_L2X0, there is no need to
select that option explicitly from SOC_IMX6Q.

PL310 cache controller to the individual machines.  To enable this,
a new MIGHT_HAVE_CACHE_L2X0 config option is introduced to allow
machines to indicate that they may have such a cache controller
independently of each other.

Boards/SoCs which cannot reliably operate without the L2 cache
controller support will need to select CACHE_L2X0 directly from
their own Kconfigs instead.  This applies to some TrustZone-enabled
boards where Linux runs in the Normal World, for example.

64968f60e7 powerpc: Only use initrd_end as the limit for alloc_bottom if it's inside the RMO.
As the kernels and initrd's get bigger boot-loaders and possibly
kexec-tools will need to place the initrd outside the RMO.  When this
happens we end up with no lowmem and the boot doesn't get very far.

Only use initrd_end as the limit for alloc_bottom if it's inside the
RMO.

9f5072d4f6 powerpc: Fix wrong divisor in usecs_to_cputime
Commit d57af9b (taskstats: use real microsecond granularity for CPU times)
renamed msecs_to_cputime to usecs_to_cputime, but failed to update all
numbers on the way.  This causes nonsensical cpu idle/iowait values to be
displayed in /proc/stat (the only user of usecs_to_cputime so far).

This also renames __cputime_msec_factor to __cputime_usec_factor, adapting
its value and using it directly in cputime_to_usecs instead of doing two
multiplications.

PPC64 uses long long for u64 in the kernel, but powerpc's asm/types.h
prevents 64-bit userland from seeing this definition, instead defaulting
to u64 == long in userspace.  Some user programs (e.g. kvmtool) may actually
want LL64, so this patch adds a check for __SANE_USERSPACE_TYPES__ so that,
if defined, int-ll64.h is included instead.

a66086b819 powerpc: POWER7 optimised copy_to_user/copy_from_user using VMX
Implement a POWER7 optimised copy_to_user/copy_from_user using VMX.
For large aligned copies this new loop is over 10% faster, and for
large unaligned copies it is over 200% faster.

If we take a fault we fall back to the old version, this keeps
things relatively simple and easy to verify.

On POWER7 unaligned stores rarely slow down - they only flush when
a store crosses a 4KB page boundary. Furthermore this flush is
handled completely in hardware and should be 20-30 cycles.

Unaligned loads on the other hand flush much more often - whenever
crossing a 128 byte cache line, or a 32 byte sector if either sector
is an L1 miss.

Considering this information we really want to get the loads aligned
and not worry about the alignment of the stores. Microbenchmarks
confirm that this approach is much faster than the current unaligned
copy loop that uses shifts and rotates to ensure both loads and
stores are aligned.

We also want to try and do the stores in cacheline aligned, cacheline
sized chunks. If the store queue is unable to merge an entire
cacheline of stores then the L2 cache will have to do a
read/modify/write. Even worse, we will serialise this with the stores
in the next iteration of the copy loop since both iterations hit
the same cacheline.

Based on this, the new loop does the following things:

1 - 127 bytes
Get the source 8 byte aligned and use 8 byte loads and stores. Pretty
boring and similar to how the current loop works.

128 - 4095 bytes
Get the source 8 byte aligned and use 8 byte loads and stores,
1 cacheline at a time. We aren't doing the stores in cacheline
aligned chunks so we will potentially serialise once per cacheline.
Even so it is much better than the loop we have today.

4096 - bytes
If both source and destination have the same alignment get them both
16 byte aligned, then get the destination cacheline aligned. Do
cacheline sized loads and stores using VMX.

If source and destination do not have the same alignment, we get the
destination cacheline aligned, and use permute to do aligned loads.

In both cases the VMX loop should be optimal - we always do aligned
loads and stores and are always doing stores in cacheline aligned,
cacheline sized chunks.

To be able to use VMX we must be careful about interrupts and
sleeping. We don't use the VMX loop when in an interrupt (which should
be rare anyway) and we wrap the VMX loop in disable/enable_pagefault
and fall back to the existing copy_tofrom_user loop if we do need to
sleep.

The VMX breakpoint of 4096 bytes was chosen using this microbenchmark:

Since we are using VMX and there is a cost to saving and restoring
the user VMX state there are two broad cases we need to benchmark:

- Best case - userspace never uses VMX

- Worst case - userspace always uses VMX

In reality a userspace process will sit somewhere between these two
extremes. Since we need to test both aligned and unaligned copies we
end up with 4 combinations. The point at which the VMX loop begins to
win is:

0% VMX
aligned		2048 bytes
unaligned	2048 bytes

100% VMX
aligned		16384 bytes
unaligned	8192 bytes

Considering this is a microbenchmark, the data is hot in cache and
the VMX loop has better store queue merging properties we set the
breakpoint to 4096 bytes, a little below the unaligned breakpoints.

Some future optimisations we can look at:

- Looking at the perf data, a significant part of the cost when a
  task is always using VMX is the extra exception we take to restore
  the VMX state. As such we should do something similar to the x86
  optimisation that restores FPU state for heavy users. ie:

        /*

         * restore of the math state immediately to avoid the trap; the
         * chances of needing FPU soon are obviously high now
         */
        preload_fpu = tsk_used_math(next_p) && next_p->fpu_counter > 5;

  and

         * that the FPU is used. If this is over a threshold, the lazy fpu
         * saving becomes unlazy to save the trap. This is an unsigned char
         * so that after 256 times the counter wraps and the behavior turns
         * lazy again; this to deal with bursty apps that only use FPU for
         * a short time
         */

- We could create a paca bit to mirror the VMX enabled MSR bit and check
  that first, avoiding multiple calls to calling enable_kernel_altivec.
  That should help with iovec based system calls like readv.

- We could have two VMX breakpoints, one for when we know the user VMX
  state is loaded into the registers and one when it isn't. This could
  be a second bit in the paca so we can calculate the break points quickly.

- One suggestion from Ben was to save and restore the VSX registers
  we use inline instead of using enable_kernel_altivec.

2f0778afac ARM: 7205/2: sched_clock: allow sched_clock to be selected at runtime
sched_clock() is yet another blocker on the road to the single
image. This patch implements an idea by Russell King:

Instead of asking the platform to implement both sched_clock()
itself and the rollover callback, simply register a read()
function, and let the ARM code care about sched_clock() itself,
the conversion to ns and the rollover. sched_clock() uses
this read() function as an indirection to the platform code.
If the platform doesn't provide a read(), the code falls back
to the jiffy counter (just like the default sched_clock).

This allow some simplifications and possibly some footprint gain
when multiple platforms are compiled in. Among the drawbacks,
the removal of the *_fixed_sched_clock optimization which could
negatively impact some platforms (sa1100, tegra, versatile
and omap).

Tested on 11MPCore, OMAP4 and Tegra.

2c29d9dd57 x86: add IRQ context simulation in module mce-inject
mce-inject provides a mechanism to simulate errors so that test
scripts can check for correct operation of the kernel without
requiring any specialized hardware to create rare events.

The existing code can simulate events in normal process context
and also in NMI context - but not in IRQ context. This patch
fills that gap.

8e609d5e7b powerpc/pmac: Simplify old pmac PIC interrupt handling
In the old days, we treated all interrupts from the legacy Apple home made
interrupt controllers as level, with a trick reading the "level" register
along with the "event" register to work arounds bugs where it would
occasionally fail to latch some events.

Doing so appeared to work fine for both level and edge interrupts.

Later on, we discovered in Darwin source the magic masks that define which
interrupts are actually level and which are edge, and implemented a
different algorithm, more similar to what Apple does, that treats those
differently.

I recently discovered however that this caused problems (including loss
of interrupts) with an old Wallstreet PowerBook when trying to use the
internal modem (connected to a cascaded controller).

It looks like some interrupts are treated as edge while they are really
level and I'm starting to seriously doubt the correctness of the Darwin
code (which has other obvious bugs when you read it, so ...)

This patch reverts to our original behaviour of treating everything as
a level interrupt. It appears to solve the problems with the modem on
the Wallstreet and everything else seems to be working properly as well.

ca3d30cc02 x86_64, asm: Optimise fls(), ffs() and fls64()
fls(N), ffs(N) and fls64(N) can be optimised on x86_64.  Currently they use a
CMOV instruction after the BSR/BSF to set the destination register to -1 if the
value to be scanned was 0 (in which case BSR/BSF set the Z flag).

Instead, according to the AMD64 specification, we can make use of the fact that
BSR/BSF doesn't modify its output register if its input is 0.  By preloading
the output with -1 and incrementing the result, we achieve the desired result
without the need for a conditional check.

The Intel x86_64 specification, however, says that the result of BSR/BSF in
such a case is undefined.  That said, when queried, one of the Intel CPU
architects said that the behaviour on all Intel CPUs is that:

 (1) with BSRQ/BSFQ, the 64-bit destination register is written with its
     original value if the source is 0, thus, in essence, giving the effect we
     want.  And,

 (2) with BSRL/BSFL, the lower half of the 64-bit destination register is
     written with its original value if the source is 0, and the upper half is
     cleared, thus giving us the effect we want (we return a 4-byte int).

Further, it was indicated that they (Intel) are unlikely to get away with
changing the behaviour.

It might be possible to optimise the 32-bit versions of these functions, but
there's a lot more variation, and so the effective non-destructive property of
BSRL/BSRF cannot be relied on.

[ hpa: specifically, some 486 chips are known to NOT have this property. ]

I have benchmarked these functions on my Core2 Duo test machine using the

83d99df7c4 x86, bitops: Move fls64.h inside __KERNEL__
We would include <asm-generic/bitops/fls64.h> even without __KERNEL__,
but that doesn't make sense, as:

1. That file provides fls64(), but the corresponding function fls() is
   not exported to user space.
2. The implementation of fls64.h uses kernel-only symbols.
3. fls64.h is not exported to user space.

This appears to have been a bug introduced in checkin:

d312ae878b "xen: use maximum reservation to limit amount of usable RAM"
clamped the total amount of RAM to the current maximum reservation. This is
correct for dom0 but is not correct for guest domains. In order to boot a guest
"pre-ballooned" (e.g. with memory=1G but maxmem=2G) in order to allow for
future memory expansion the guest must derive max_pfn from the e820 provided by
the toolstack and not the current maximum reservation (which can reflect only
the current maximum, not the guest lifetime max). The existing algorithm
already behaves this correctly if we do not artificially limit the maximum
number of pages for the guest case.

For a guest booted with maxmem=512, memory=128 this results in:

cebef5beed x86: Fix and improve percpu_cmpxchg{8,16}b_double()
They had several problems/shortcomings:

Only the first memory operand was mentioned in the 2x32bit asm()
operands, and 2x64-bit version had a memory clobber. The first
allowed the compiler to not recognize the need to re-load the
data in case it had it cached in some register, and the second
was overly destructive.

The memory operand in the 2x32-bit asm() was declared to only be
an output.

The types of the local copies of the old and new values were
incorrect (as in other per-CPU ops, the types of the per-CPU
variables accessed should be used here, to make sure the
respective types are compatible).

The __dummy variable was pointless (and needlessly initialized
in the 2x32-bit case), given that local copies of the inputs
already exist.

The 2x64-bit variant forced the address of the first object into
%rsi, even though this is needed only for the call to the
emulation function. The real cmpxchg16b can operate on an
memory.

At once also change the return value type to what it really is -
'bool'.

29e9bf1841 x86, mce, therm_throt: Don't report power limit and package level thermal throttle events in mcelog
Thermal throttle and power limit events are not defined as MCE errors in x86
architecture and should not generate MCE errors in mcelog.

Current kernel generates fake software defined MCE errors for these events.
This may confuse users because they may think the machine has real MCE errors
while actually only thermal throttle or power limit events happen.

To make it worse, buggy firmware on some platforms may falsely generate
the events. Therefore, kernel reports MCE errors which users think as real
hardware errors. Although the firmware bugs should be fixed, on the other hand,
kernel should not report MCE errors either.

So mcelog is not a good mechanism to report these events. To report the events, we count them in respective counters (core_power_limit_count,
package_power_limit_count, core_throttle_count, and package_throttle_count) in
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu#/thermal_throttle/. Users can check the counters
for each event on each CPU. Please note that all CPU's on one package report
duplicate counters. It's user application's responsibity to retrieve a package
level counter for one package.

This patch doesn't report package level power limit, core level power limit, and
package level thermal throttle events in mcelog. When the events happen, only
report them in respective counters in sysfs.

Since core level thermal throttle has been legacy code in kernel for a while and
users accepted it as MCE error in mcelog, core level thermal throttle is still
reported in mcelog. In the mean time, the event is counted in a counter in sysfs
as well.

Once we've found and validated the ucode patch for the current CPU,
there's no need to iterate over the remaining patches in the binary
image. Exit then and save us a bunch of cycles.

be62adb492 x86, microcode, AMD: Simplify ucode verification
Basically, what we did until now is take out a chunk of the firmware
image, vmalloc space for it and inspect it before application. And
repeat.

This patch changes all that so that we look at each ucode patch from
the firmware image, check it for sanity and copy it to local buffer for
application only once and if it passes all checks. Thus, vmalloc-ing for
each piece is gone, we can do proper size checking only of the patch
which is destined for the CPU of the current machine instead of each
single patch, which is clearly wrong.

Oh yeah, simplify and cleanup the code while at it, along with adding
comments as to what actually happens.

driver exit instead of vmalloc'ing small buffers for each ucode patch.
