Some USB peripheral controller drivers support software control
over the data pullup. Use those controls to prevent the OBEX
function from enumerating until the userspace server has opened
the /dev/ttyGS* node it will use to implement protocol chitchat
with the USB host.

Add a new mechanism to the composite gadget framework, letting
functions deactivate (and reactivate) themselves. Think of it
as a refcounted wrapper for the software pullup control.
A key example of why to use this mechanism involves functions that
require a userspace daemon. Those functions shuld use this new
mechanism to prevent the gadget from enumerating until those daemons
are activated. Without this mechanism, hosts would see devices that
malfunction until the relevant daemons start.

[This version fixes a thinko in the r8a66597 driver]
This patch let a few discrete USB host controllers drivers (isp116x-hcd,
r8a66597-hcd and sl811-hcd) obtain IRQ flags from their IORESOURCE_IRQ
resource if configured as such, much like it's been done for the smc91x
driver.
It spares people writing support for specific boards the burden to
configure the interrupt controller independantly, and keeps all IRQ
related information in a single resource.
HCD that are integrally part of a SoC have been left aside, as there
is probably no "wiring" options...
Tested on an Xscale PXA-255 based platform with isp116x-hcd.

looking at usb_kill_urb() it seems to me that it is unnecessarily lenient.
In the use case of disconnect() you never want to use the URB again
(for the same device) But leaving urb->reject elevated will make it easier
to avoid races between read/write and disconnect.

In this code, it is possible to tell statically whether usblp will be NULL
in the error handling code.
Oliver Neukum suggested to make a goto to the final return rather than
return directly.

Add Oceanic PID to ftdi_sio driver
Oceanic dive computers (such as the VT3 --
http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/p_computers_vt3.html) all use an onboard
FTDI serial converter, with the FTDI vid and a PID of 0xf460. The
attached patch adds that pid to ftdi_sio; driver connects to my VT3
after that.

Olaf Kirch noticed that the i915_set_status_page() function of the i915
kernel driver calls ioremap with an address offset that is supplied by
userspace via ioctl. The function zeroes the mapped memory via memset
and tells the hardware about the address. Turns out that access to that
ioctl is not restricted to root so users could probably exploit that to
do nasty things. We haven't tried to write actual exploit code though.
It only affects the Intel G33 series and newer.

At leavevt and lastclose time, cancel any pending retire work handler
invocation, and keep the retire work handler from requeuing itself if it is
currently running.
This patch restructures i915_gem_idle to perform all of these tasks instead
of having both leavevt and lastclose call a sequence of functions.

This should improve performance by avoiding uncached reads by the CPU (the
point of having a status page), and may improve stability. This patch only
affects G33, GM45 and G45 chips as those are the only ones using GTT-based
HWS mappings.

G45 appears quite sensitive to ring initialization register writes,
sometimes leaving the HEAD register with the START register contents. Check
to make sure HEAD is reset correctly when START is written, and fix it up,
screaming loudly.

In the conversion for GEM, we had stopped using the hardware lock to protect
ring usage, since it was all internal to the DRM now. However, some paths
weren't converted to using struct_mutex to prevent multiple threads from
concurrently working on the ring, in particular between the vblank swap handler
and ioctls.

GEM allows the creation of persistent buffer objects accessible by the
graphics device through new ioctls for managing execution of commands on the
device. The userland API is almost entirely driver-specific to ensure that
any driver building on this model can easily map the interface to individual
driver requirements.
GEM is used by the 2d driver for managing its internal state allocations and
will be used for pixmap storage to reduce memory consumption and enable
zero-copy GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap, and in the 3d driver is used to enable
GL_EXT_framebuffer_object and GL_ARB_pixel_buffer_object.

Previously, drivers supporting vblank interrupt waits would run the interrupt
all the time, or all the time that any 3d client was running, preventing the
CPU from sleeping for long when the system was otherwise idle. Now, interrupts
are disabled any time that no client is waiting on a vblank event. The new
method uses vblank counters on the chipsets when the interrupts are turned
off, rather than counting interrupts, so that we can continue to present
accurate vblank numbers.

Wrap access to task credentials so that they can be separated more easily from
the task_struct during the introduction of COW creds.
Change most current->(|e|s|fs)[ug]id to current_(|e|s|fs)[ug]id().
Change some task->e?[ug]id to task_e?[ug]id(). In some places it makes more
sense to use RCU directly rather than a convenient wrapper; these will be
addressed by later patches.

Previous attempts at interrupt mitigation had been foiled by i915_wait_irq's
failure to update the sarea seqno value when the status page indicated that
the seqno had already been passed. MSI support has been seen to cut CPU
costs by up to 40% in some workloads by avoiding other expensive interrupt
handlers for frequent graphics interrupts.

Fix the SIS DRM memory allocator if the SIS FB built as a module. The SIS DRM
code initialises the mm allocation hooks, but _only_ if the SIS FB is not
built as a module because it depends on CONFIG_FB_SIS, and that's unset if the
SIS FB is not built in. It must check CONFIG_FB_SIS_MODULE as well.

The first time you use the card, first call reconfigure with MXL_QAM,
and when tune DVB-T it calls reconfigure with MXL_DVBT. But if you close
the frontend and open again, it calls reconfigure with MXL_QAM, but not
call reconfigure with MXL_DVBT because state->current_mode don't change
(is MXL_DVBT).

This adds I2S-ADC tvaudio mode as a formal method of audio
delivery.
This fixes one bug and adds fm audio via I2S-ADC on cards
that support it.
The bug occured before when I2S-ADC mode was initiated on
composite/s-video open but was then reset within 500ms
by the audio thread which used any previous audio tuning
details.

When moving from one frontend to another
an application could spawn multiple threads opening
the same new frontend and in some circumstances all of
these could become delayed waiting for the previous
frontend readers or previous frontend writer thread to
complete.
In this scenario the first thread will succeed on open
to bring the new frontend online but any others will return
EBUSY. This is a fault. If the first succeeds and all others
are on the same frontend then they should succeed also.

A number of users have complained that their syslog often shows this

This patch improves the buffer handling in the sh_mobile_ceu driver.
Instead of marking all queued buffers as VIDEOBUF_ACTIVE the code now
marks queued-but-not-active buffers as VIDEOBUF_QUEUED and buffers
involved in dma as VIDEOBUF_ACTIVE. The code is also updated with
code to cancel active buffers, thanks to Morimoto-san.

typically using platform-provided hooks. Update soc_camera_platform.c to
do the same. Also remove a refundant struct soc_camera_platform_info

This patch improves the color space conversion code in vivi.c to
directly draw with precalculated YUV values as palette instead of
drawing with YUV that is calculated from RGB for every two pixels.
This way we eliminate the need for 9 multiplications every two pixels.
A side effect of this patch is that the time counter is changed from
green text on black background to white text on black background.

cx23885 frontend allocation code needs to exist in the higher function,
and it also needs to ensure videobug is also correctly initialised
on a per frontend basis. This code uses the previous num_frontends
patch to safely init each future MFE frontend on a single tsport as
as safely as possible - given that we don't have any of those boards.
Again, better to add all of this safety code now, while the MFE patch

This allows some cardcoded functions to be more flexible, and paves
the way for any future cards that may have MFE support. Better to add it
now when the MFE patches is fresh in peoples mind, rather than 12 months
from now when new cards appear.

This add initial configuration for radio support on the
hvr-3000/4000. FM radio doesn't work as yet without
further patches (to come), but this prepares for
that.
Experimental radio support shows that it works
when combined with additional audio routing
work for cards with an FMD1216ME analogue
frontend, but not the MEX variant (more later).

This adds audio routing on the hvr-3000/4000
This is a preliminary patch for later routing
requirements.
This adds line-in support on the 2 cards mentioned.
It is also apparent that there is an initial open
fault for line-in when opening composite/s-video.
This will be fixed later.
It was also noticed that the bit-field for audio
routing which was 2 bits needs an increase as
the WM8775 for example, allows a value 4 bits
wide for it's audio mux.

This add frontend R/W mutual exclusion.
Prior to this point in time it was possible to open both
frontends simultaneously which an MFE card cannot support.
In order to stop this, a delayed open is performed which
has the following function:
- Return EBUSY after a configurable amount of time
if a frontend is unavailable due to the other being
in use.
- Only allow opening of a frontend if the kernel thread
of the other has stopped.
This solution was chosen to allow switching between
frontends to work as seamlessly as possible. When both
frontends are actually opened simultaneously then one
will only open, but if quick switching is performed
between one of many then the new open will succeed in
a clean fashion rather than interrupting a kernel
thread.

This adds a configurable (one per card) gate control option
for multi-frontend. Prior to this point gate control was
assumed to be on the primary frontend, this is a fault
when the gate to the analogue section is on the secondary
which is the default for both the HVR-3000 and HVR-4000
in MFE.

When using MFE on a setup with both and HVR-3000 and ASUS P7131
card it was noticed that frontend allocation for saa7134
adapters was missing. This patch adds that allocation for
both saa7134 and cx23885 adapters.

A number of reference to videobuf_dvb_get_frontend used an invalid
index. This has been fixed.
The section for the HVR3000 in advise_acquire was redundant as
the same logic is used on the HVR4000. This has been removed
and both cards now use the same function.
A number of small errors and whitespace errors are also fixed.

"The WinTV-HVR3000 has a single transport bus which is shared between
a DVB-T and DVB-S modulator. These patches build on the bus acquisition
cx88 work from a few weeks ago to add support for this.
So to applications the HVR3000 looks like this:
/dev/dvb/adapter0/fe0 (cx24123 DVB-S demod)
/dev/dvb/adapter0/fe1 (cx22702 DVB-T demod)
Additional boards continue as before, eg:
/dev/dvb/adapter1/fe0 (lgdt3302 ATSC demod)
The basic change is removing the single instance of the videobuf_dvb in
cx8802_dev and saa7134_dev(?) and replacing it with a list and some
supporting functions.
*NOTE* This branch was taken before v4l-dvb was closed for 2.6.19 so
two or three current cx88 patches appear to be reversed by this tree,
this will be cleaned up in the near future. The patches missing change
the mutex handing to core->lock, fix an enumeration problem."

This patch removes the unnecessary get/set input/audio functions.
The reason is, that the V4L2 specification says, that if input or audio
cannot be switched anyway, the functions doesn't need to be implemented.
I've tested the new driver with all current radio programs in
Debian/testing and found no problems with that.
In my opinion, the driver is much cleaner by removing these unnecessary
functions.

This patch changes the handling of unsupported base controls.
In the former version, specific unsupported base controls were listed in
the queryctrl table and were flagged as disabled controls. This was done
for all base controls used by the applications.
The patch now removes the specific base controls and instead lets
queryctrl automatically return unsupported base controls flagged as
disabled.

This patch improves support for multiple radio devices.
In previous versions all region relevant settings were derived from one
module parameter. As in future versions, the region and other
configuration should be configurable per device from the user space,
this patch already retrieves all relevant information from the actual
device specific settings.

This patch prevents stk-webcam from updating usb device information
once the camera has been removed. This prevents a crash that would
otherwise occur if the camera is disconnected while it is still in

1) removes the unnecessary kref.h include file
2) removes unnecessary pointer validation from read and poll routines.
(Neither poll nor read may be called unless a call to open succeeds. A
successful call to open will always set the file private_data pointer.
Verifying that it is not null is therefore unnecessary. The associated
release and mmap calls currently ignore this check.)
3) adds a space to syslog output.
4) removes an unused function prototype.

Ian Armstrong pointed out to me that it is perfectly valid to have a
576 lines YUV video with NTSC output in this particular case. In fact,
without this the X driver for ivtv does not function properly.
Reverted my earlier change that restrictred the height to 480 for NTSC
and add the comments provided by Ian to explain what is happening here.

By the time ide_dma_sgiioc4() gets called, sgiioc4_ide_setup_pci_device() will
have called ioremap() on the whole BAR0 region, so calling ioremap() on the DMA
registers means wasting a page. Replace this call by a mere address calculation,
based on the fact that IRQ registers (pointed to by 'hwif->io_ports.irq_addr')
are situated at offset 0 from BAR0.

The driver performs a number of checks on the virtual/physical addresses which
would always evaluate as true (except ide_dma_sgiioc4() -- always false):
- for sgiioc4_init_hwif_ports(), its caller, sgiioc4_ide_setup_pci_device(),
guarantees that 'ctrl_port' and 'irq_port' parameters are never 0;
- in sgiioc4_read_status(), we always read the IDE status register, so there's
no need to check the register's address (must be a leftover from the times
when this function implemented the INB() method);
- in ide_dma_sgiioc4(), 'dma_base' can never be 0 as IOC4_DMA_OFFSET is not 0.

a command or unmask the interrupt after a command executed in polled mode (when
interrupt is already not expected), it is pointless to implement this method

a command or unmask the interrupt after a command executed in polled mode (when
interrupt is already not expected), it is pointless to manipulate the nIEN bit
in this method; therefore, just do nothing for the drives not on the quirk list.
Move the code to the left by using an early return and the 'else if' construct,
while at it....

Apparently, there is no sense in unmasking IRQ on the controller when you call
disable_irq_nosync() before doing this, set the nIEN bit afterwards, and then
unmask IRQ again after the command completion, hence 0 passed to SELECT_MASK()
before issuing the command in ide_config_drive_speed() is probably just a typo.

Probing the ISA bus on systems without ISA bus may hang the system.
This patch makes the ISA bus related code depend on the kernel
configuration parameter CONFIG_ISA. It moves ISA bus related code
into one #ifdef CONFIG_ISA ... #endif block and adds some helper
function.

The W83781D and W83782D can be accessed either on the I2C bus or the
ISA bus. We must not access the same chip through both interfaces. So
far we were relying on the user passing the correct ignore parameter
to skip the registration of the I2C interface as suggested by
sensors-detect, but this is fragile: the user may load the w83781d
driver without running sensors-detect, and the i2c bus numbers are
not stable across reboots and hardware changes.
So, better detect alias chips in the driver directly, and skip any
I2C chip which is obviously an alias of the ISA chip. This is done
by comparing the value of 26 selected registers.

The it87 driver doesn't follow the standard sensor type values as
documented in Documentation/hwmon/sysfs-interface. It uses value 2 for
thermistors instead of value 4. This causes "sensors" to tell the user
that the chip is setup for a transistor while it is actually setup for
a thermistor.
Using value 4 for thermistors solves the problem. For compatibility
reasons, we still accept value 2 but emit a warning message so that
users update their configuration files.

The LM78 detection is relatively weak, and sometimes recent Winbond
chips can be misdetected as an LM78. We have had repeated reports of
this happening. We have an explicit check against this for the ISA
access, do the same for I2C access now.

Only request I/O ports 0x295-0x296 instead of the full I/O address
range. This solves a conflict with PNP resources on a few motherboards.
Also request the I/O ports in two parts (4 low ports, 4 high ports)
during device detection, otherwise the PNP resource make the request
(and thus the detection) fail.
This is the exact same fix that was applied to driver w83781d in
March 2008 to address the same problem:

The LM85 and compatible chips only support 8 arbitrary PWM frequencies.
The algorithm to pick one of them based on the user input is not
optimum. Improve it to always pick the closest supported frequency.

Implement the standard PWM frequency interface: pwm[1-*]_freq in
units of 1 Hz, instead of the non-standard pwm[1-*]_auto_pwm_freq
in units of 0.1 Hz. The old naming was not only non-standard, it was
also confusing, because it suggested that the frequency value only
applied in automatic fan speed mode, which isn't true.

Use a separate mutex to serialize input device creation/removal,
otheriwse we deadlock if we try to remove input device while it is
being polled. Also do not take ams_info.lock when it is not needed.

We should not allow writes to the 'joystick' module parameters since
writing there will not trigger creation of the input device. Disable
writes since we provide alternative way of enabling input device via
AMS device's sysfs attribute.

The legacy i2c binding model is phasing out, so the ams driver needs
to be converted to a new-style i2c driver. Here is a naive approach of
this conversion. Basically it is moving the i2c device creation from
the ams driver to the i2c-powermac driver. This should work, but I
suspect we could come up with something cleaner by declaring the i2c
device as part of the platform setup. This could be done later by
someone more familiar with openfirmware-based platforms than I am
myself.
One nice thing brought by this conversion is that the ams driver
should be loaded automatically on systems where is is needed (at
least when the I2C interface to the chip is used) providing
coldplug-aware user-space environment.

The lm87 driver normally assumes that firmware configured the chip
correctly. Since this is not always the case, alllow platform code to
set the channel register value via platform_data. All other
configuration registers can be changed after driver initialisation.

lm87_init_client() conditionally sets the Start bit and clears the
INT#_Clear bit in the Config 1 register. The condition should be that
either of these bits needs changing, but currently it checks the
(self-clearing) Initialization bit instead of INT#_Clear.
Fix the condition and also ensure we never set the Initialization bit.

The Maxim chips supported by the lm90 driver have 8-bit high and low
remote limit values, not 11-bit as the other chips have. So stop reading
from and writing to registers that do not exist on these chips. Also
round the limit values set by the user properly.

Optimize the ds_set_pullup function. For a strong pullup to be sent the
ds2490 has to have both the strong pullup mode enabled, and the specific
write operation has to have the SPU bit enabled. Previously the write
always had the SPU bit enabled and both the duration and model was set
when a strong pullup was requested. Now the strong pullup mode is enabled
at initialization time, the delay is updated only when the value changes,
and the write SPU bit is set only when a strong pullup is required. This
removes two or three bus transactions per strong pullup request.

Reset the device in init as it can be in a bad state. This is necessary
because a block write will wait for data to be placed in the output buffer
and block any later commands which will keep accumulating and the device
will not be idle. Another case is removing the ds2490 module while a bus
search is in progress, somehow a few commands get through, but the input
transfers fail leaving data in the input buffer. This will cause the next
read to fail see the note in ds_recv_data.

Simplify and fix ds_touch_bit. If a device is attached in the middle of a
bus search the status register will return more than the default 16 bytes.
The additional bytes indicate that it has detected a new device. The way
ds_wait_status is coded, if it doesn't read 16 status bytes it returns an
error value. ds_touch_bit then will detect that error and return an
error. In that case it doesn't read the input buffer and returns
uninitialized data. It doesn't stop there. The next transaction will not
expect the extra byte in the input buffer and the short read will cause an
error and clear out both the old byte and new data in the input buffer.
Just ignore the value of ds_wait_status. It is still required to wait
until ds2490 is again idle and there is data to read when ds_recv_data is
called. This also removes the while loop. None of the other commands
wait and verify that the issued command is in the status register.

Don't export read and write bit operations, they didn't work, they weren't
used, and they can't be made to work. The one wire low level bit
operations expect to set high or low levels, the ds2490 hardware only
supports complete read or write time slots, better to just comment them
out.

ds_write_bit doesn't read the input buffer, so add COMM_ICP and a comment
that it will no longer generate a read back data byte. If there is an
extra data byte later on then it will cause an error and discard what data
was there. Corrected operator ordering for ds_send_control.

Add strong pullup support for ds2490 driver, also drop mdelay(750), which
busy waits, usage in favour of msleep for long delays. Now with msleep
only being called when the strong pullup is active, one wire bus
operations are only taking minimal system overhead.
The new set_pullup will only enable the strong pullup when requested,
which is expected to be the only write operation that will benefit from a
strong pullup.

Like the previous w1_io.c reset coments and msleep patch, I don't have the
hardware to verify the change, but I think it is safe. It also helps to
see a comment like this in the code. "We'll wait a bit longer just to be
sure." If they are going to calculate delaying 324.9us, but actually delay
500us, why not just give up the CPU and sleep? This is designed for a
battery powered ARM system, avoiding busywaiting has to be good for
battery life.
I sent a request for testers March 7, 2008 to the Linux kernel mailing
list and two developers who have patches for ds1wm.c, but I didn't get
any respons.

w1_reset_bus, added some comments about the timing and switched to msleep
for the later delay. I don't have the hardware to test the sleep after
reset change. The one wire doesn't have a timing requirement between
commands so it is fine. I do have the USB hardware and it would be in big
trouble with 10ms interrupt transfers to find that the reset completed.

Fixed data reading bug by replacing binary attribute with device one.
Switching the sysfs read from bin_attribute to device_attribute. The data
is far under PAGE_SIZE so the binary interface isn't required. As the
device_attribute interface will make one call to w1_therm_read per file
open and buffer, the result is, the following problems go away.
buffer overflow:
Execute a short read on w1_slave and w1_therm_read_bin would still
return the full string size worth of data clobbering the user space
buffer when it returned. Switching to device_attribute avoids the
buffer overflow problems. With the snprintf formatted output dealing
with short reads without doing a conversion per read would have
been difficult.
bad behavior:
`cat w1_slave` would cause two temperature conversions to take place.
Previously the code assumed W1_SLAVE_DATA_SIZE would be returned with
each read. It would not return 0 unless the offset was less
than W1_SLAVE_DATA_SIZE. The result was the first read did a
temperature conversion, filled the buffer and returned, the
offset in the second read would be less than
W1_SLAVE_DATA_SIZE and also fill the buffer and return, the
third read would finnally have a big enough offset to return 0
and cause cat to stop. Now w1_therm_read will be called at
most once per open.

Fix bug reading the id sysfs file. If less than the full 8 bytes were
read, the next read would start at the first byte instead of continuing.
It needed the offset added to memcpy, or the better solution was to
replace it with the device attribute instead of bin attribute.

Add a strong pullup option to the w1 system. This supplies extra power
for parasite powered devices. There is a w1_master_pullup sysfs entry and
enable_pullup module parameter to enable or disable the strong pullup.
The one wire bus requires at a minimum one wire and ground. The common
wire is used for sending and receiving data as well as supplying power to
devices that are parasite powered of which temperature sensors can be one
example. The bus must be idle and left high while a temperature
conversion is in progress, in addition the normal pullup resister on
larger networks or even higher temperatures might not supply enough power.
The pullup resister can't provide too much pullup current, because
devices need to pull the bus down to write a value. This enables the
strong pullup for supported hardware, which can supply more current when
requested. Unsupported hardware will just delay with the bus high.
The hardware USB 2490 one wire bus master has a bit on some commands which
will enable the strong pullup as soon as the command finishes executing.
To use strong pullup, call the new w1_next_pullup function to register the
duration. The next write command will call set_pullup before sending the
data, and reset the duration to zero once it returns.

The w1_process thread's sleeping and termination has been modified.
msleep_interruptible was replaced by schedule_timeout and schedule to
allow for kthread_stop and wake_up_process to interrupt the sleep and the
unbounded sleeping when a bus search is disabled. The W1_MASTER_NEED_EXIT
and flags variable were removed as they were redundant with
kthread_should_stop and kthread_stop. If w1_process is sleeping,
requesting a search will immediately wake it up rather than waiting for
the end of msleep_interruptible previously.

Move the creation of the w1_process thread to after the device has been
initialized. This way w1_process doesn't have to check to see if it has
been initialized and the bus search can proceed without sleeping. That
also eliminates two checks in the w1_process loop. The sleep now happens
at the end of the loop not the beginning.
Also added a comment for why the atomic_set was 2.

Early abort if the master driver or the hardware goes away in the middle
of a bus search operation. The alternative is to spam the print buffer up

w1_control_thread was removed which would wake up every second and process
newly registered family codes and complete some final cleanup for a
removed master. Those routines were moved to the threads that were
previously requesting those operations. A new function
w1_reconnect_slaves takes care of reconnecting existing slave devices when
a new family code is registered or removed. The removal case was missing
and would cause a deadlock waiting for the family code reference count to
decrease, which will now happen. A problem with registering a family code
was fixed. A slave device would be unattached if it wasn't yet claimed,
then attached at the end of the list, two unclaimed slaves would cause an
infinite loop.
The struct w1_bus_master.search now takes a pointer to the struct
w1_master device to avoid searching for it, which would have caused a
lock ordering deadlock with the removal of w1_control_thread.

Patch tpm-correct-tpm-timeouts-to-jiffies-conversion reveals a bug in the
Broadcom BCM0102 TPM chipset used in the Dell Latitude D820 - although
most of the timeouts are returned in usecs as per the spec, one is
apparently returned in msecs, which results in a too-small value leading
to a timeout when the code treats it as usecs. To prevent a regression,
we check for the known too-short value and adjust it to a value that makes
things work.

This patch fixes timeouts conversion to jiffies, by replacing
msecs_to_jiffies() calls with usecs_to_jiffies(). According to TCG TPM
Specification Version 1.2 Revision 103 (pages 166, 167) TPM timeouts and
durations are returned in microseconds (usec) not in miliseconds (msec).
This fixes a long hang while loading TPM driver, if TPM chip starts in
"Idle" state instead of "Ready" state. Without this patch - 'modprobe'
may hang for 30 seconds or more.

Make the Thermal messages (temperature got past Tmid) be displayed only
once because:
1) it's the BIOS job to configure and handle the memory throttling
2) if the BIOS is broken or is aware about the condition, flooding the
system logs won't help anything.
3) According to the specification update for Intel 5000 MCHs, all the
revisions of this MCH have problems on the thermal sensors, making
not automatic (a.k.a. intelligent thermal throttling) impossible.

Update the i5000_edac messages, making everything pass through the EDAC

Fix 443BX/GX MCH suppport in a EDAC.
It makes i82443bxgx_edac coexist with intel_agp using the same approach as
several other EDAC drivers.
Tested on Intel's L443GX with redhat's 2.6.18 with whole EDAC subsystem
backported a while ago.

Make alloc_carmine_fb() __devinit.
WARNING: drivers/video/carminefb.o(.text+0x81b): Section mismatch in reference from the function alloc_carmine_fb() to the variable .devinit.data:carminefb_fix
The function alloc_carmine_fb() references the variable __devinitdata
carminefb_fix. This is often because alloc_carmine_fb lacks a
__devinitdata annotation or the annotation of carminefb_fix is wrong.
