As RichTextLabel returned a copy of the member (Vector) the editor was notified
that the value had changed which caused the dropdown menu to be immediately
closed after opening.
The fix is to return the member (Array) in stead of a copy which is the same
instance and thereby does not notify the editor that the value has changed.
* `_gui_input`, `_input`, `_unhandled_input` and `_unhandled_key_input` are now regular C++ virutal functions.
* Everything else converted to GDVIRTUAL
* BIND_VMETHOD is gone, always use the new syntax from now on.
Creating `_gui_input` method and using the binder to register events will no longer work, simply override the virtual function now.
* Added a new macro SNAME() that constructs and caches a local stringname.
* Subsequent usages use the cached version.
* Since these use a global static variable, a second refcounter of static usages need to be kept for cleanup time.
* Replaced all theme usages by this new macro.
* Replace all signal emission usages by this new macro.
* Replace all call_deferred usages by this new macro.
This is part of ongoing work to optimize GUI and the editor.
Updates rich_text_label so that the built-in documentation can be searched
Previously, it would only find the first result and would not select other results
Renames "_entered" functions to "_submitted"
There were some issues in RichTextLabel `remove_line()` method, where items were not correctly removed, and line decremending for items in later lines was not correctly done.
This also fixed several headaches with EditorLog, which relied on the `remove_line()` method for collapsing of duplicate messages. The fix to RTL also fixed the issues with EditorLog.
Fixes#49030
Added method to create a new line in RichTextLabel without adding an ItemNewline to the previous line. Previously, removing a line then adding a newline was adding unnecessary ItemNewline instances to the previous line, significantly the remove_line method.
This removes hardcoded actions from things like LineEdit and TextEdit.
Previously, things like copy, paste, etc were all hardcoded to Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, etc. They could not be changed. This allows the possibility of them being changed, by making them use the action map. This has the added benefit of greatly simplifying the input handling logic in those controls. The logic which was previously in a huge and hard to follow switch statement has been extracted to individual methods.
-For inspector refresh, the inspector now detects if a property change by polling a few times per second and then does update the control if so. This process is very cheap.
-For property list refresh, a new signal (property_list_changed) was added to Object. _change_notify() is replaced by notify_property_list_changed()
-Changed all objects using the old method to the signal, or just deleted the calls to _change_notify(<property>) since they are unnecesary now.
The RichTextLabel class is inconsistent in how it updates the
visible_characters and percent_visible properties when either is changed.
To keep both properties consistent, update percent_visible when setting the
visible_characters property.
For both properties, when setting one, notify change for the other.
Docs updated for member set_visible_characters on RichTextLabel class.
Happy new year to the wonderful Godot community!
2020 has been a tough year for most of us personally, but a good year for
Godot development nonetheless with a huge amount of work done towards Godot
4.0 and great improvements backported to the long-lived 3.2 branch.
We've had close to 400 contributors to engine code this year, authoring near
7,000 commit! (And that's only for the `master` branch and for the engine code,
there's a lot more when counting docs, demos and other first-party repos.)
Here's to a great year 2021 for all Godot users 🎆
Fixes#41006 (regression from #39164).
The original alignment fix was limited to PROCESS_DRAW mode, which
caused some discrepancies with PROCESS_POINTER mode.
Now only PROCESS_CACHE is excluded with a condition a few lines above.
I couldn't find a tool that enforces it, so I went the manual route:
```
find -name "thirdparty" -prune \
-o -name "*.cpp" -o -name "*.h" -o -name "*.m" -o -name "*.mm" \
-o -name "*.glsl" > files
perl -0777 -pi -e 's/\n}\n([^#])/\n}\n\n\1/g' $(cat files)
misc/scripts/fix_style.sh -c
```
This adds a newline after all `}` on the first column, unless they
are followed by `#` (typically `#endif`). This leads to having lots
of places with two lines between function/class definitions, but
clang-format then fixes it as we enforce max one line of separation.
This doesn't fix potential occurrences of function definitions which
are indented (e.g. for a helper class defined in a .cpp), but it's
better than nothing. Also can't be made to run easily on CI/hooks so
we'll have to be careful with new code.
Part of #33027.
Which means that reduz' beloved style which we all became used to
will now be changed automatically to remove the first empty line.
This makes us lean closer to 1TBS (the one true brace style) instead
of hybridating it with some Allman-inspired spacing.
There's still the case of braces around single-statement blocks that
needs to be addressed (but clang-format can't help with that, but
clang-tidy may if we agree about it).
Part of #33027.
Part of #33027, also discussed in #29848.
Enforcing the use of brackets even on single line statements would be
preferred, but `clang-format` doesn't have this functionality yet.
RichTextEffect can now have a bbcode string starting like one of the built-in.
It was impossible before as the built-in would take precedence over the custom effect that has the same bbcode start.
Example : [fade] would take precedence over [fade_in]
Correct backtrack assignment to prevent excessive tabulation. Worth
noting that tabulation is treated differently in RichTextLabel because
of custom user-asignable tab variable which creates problems with
dynamic fonts specifically.
Remove now unnecessary bindings of signal callbacks in the public API.
There might be some false positives that need rebinding if they were
meant to be public.
No regular expressions were harmed in the making of this commit.
(Nah, just kidding.)
- Renames PackedIntArray to PackedInt32Array.
- Renames PackedFloatArray to PackedFloat32Array.
- Adds PackedInt64Array and PackedFloat64Array.
- Renames Variant::REAL to Variant::FLOAT for consistency.
Packed arrays are for storing large amount of data and creating stuff like
meshes, buffers. textures, etc. Forcing them to be 64 is a huge waste of
memory. That said, many users requested the ability to have 64 bits packed
arrays for their games, so this is just an optional added type.
For Variant, the float datatype is always 64 bits, and exposed as `float`.
We still have `real_t` which is the datatype that can change from 32 to 64
bits depending on a compile flag (not entirely working right now, but that's
the idea). It affects math related datatypes and code only.
Neither Variant nor PackedArray make use of real_t, which is only intended
for math precision, so the term is removed from there to keep only float.
-Texture renamed to Texture2D
-TextureLayered as base now inherits 2Darray, cubemap and cubemap array
-Removed all references to flags in textures (they will go in the shader)
-Texture3D gone for now (will come back later done properly)
-Create base rasterizer for RenderDevice, RasterizerRD
A picture is easier to describe this issue than words. Basically, rich
text effects allowed for character visibility changes. While doing so
would work properly, the rich text label would render the next `word` in
an offset accounting for the hidden characters (leaving a huge space.)
This patch fixes this issue by keeping track of the amount of
`backtrack` necessary per line.
Happy new year to the wonderful Godot community!
We're starting a new decade with a well-established, non-profit, free
and open source game engine, and tons of further improvements in the
pipeline from hundreds of contributors.
Godot will keep getting better, and we're looking forward to all the
games that the community will keep developing and releasing with it.
Added a new ItemFX type to RichTextLabel which supports dynamic text
effects.
RichTextEffect Resource Type was added which can be extended for more
real time text effects.
It seems to stay compatible with formatting done by clang-format 6.0 and 7.0,
so contributors can keep using those versions for now (they will not undo those
changes).

This allows more consistency in the manner we include core headers,
where previously there would be a mix of absolute, relative and
include path-dependent includes.
This commit makes operator[] on Vector const and adds a write proxy to it. From
now on writes to Vectors need to happen through the .write proxy. So for
instance:
Vector<int> vec;
vec.push_back(10);
std::cout << vec[0] << std::endl;
vec.write[0] = 20;
Failing to use the .write proxy will cause a compilation error.
In addition COWable datatypes can now embed a CowData pointer to their data.
This means that String, CharString, and VMap no longer use or derive from
Vector.
_ALWAYS_INLINE_ and _FORCE_INLINE_ are now equivalent for debug and non-debug
builds. This is a lot faster for Vector in the editor and while running tests.
The reason why this difference used to exist is because force-inlined methods
used to give a bad debugging experience. After extensive testing with modern
compilers this is no longer the case.
- Implement outlines based on FreeType Stroker API. This allows
artifact-free results, similar to what you will see in Web or any text
editing tools. Outline is a part of DynamicFont rather than Label,
because outlines have to be baked into the font's atlas. Font has a
default outline_color and a Label can specify font_outline_modulator
that will be multiplied with the Font's color to get the final result.
- draw_char now has to be called twice to fully render a text - first
with p_outline == true for each character and then with
p_outline == false for each character.
- Number of draw-calls is reduced from 5 to 2 per outlined character.
- Overall cleanup of DynamicFont code, extracted duplicated code pieces
into separate methods.
- The change is backward-compatible - Labels still have outline
properties that work exactly as they worked before.
Closes#16279.
When `RichTextLabel` calculated the actual width of columns, it let
them grow to sizes greater than its calculated `max_width`. Now this
PR ensures no columns grows beyond `max_width`, and the excess width
is distributed among the columns which can still grow.
It should fix#17731.
Text overflowed canvas as tables didn't calculate correctly the width
of their columns. They used the whole table width available for each
column. Also, the `cell` parameter was wrongly parsed if used with its
optional argument (expand ratio).
This PR fixs the parsing of `cell` parameter (i.e. `cell=e`) and the
distribution of the full table width between columns, but it overrides
automatically the `expand` flag if the column is smaller than it could
be, to allow a better UX out-of-the-box. It keeps the `expand_ratio`
flag to let the user customize how every column grows in relation to
the rest.
Partially fix#6289.
Notable potentially breaking changes:
- PROPERTY_USAGE_NOEDITOR is now PROPERTY_USAGE_STORAGE | PROPERTY_USAGE_NETWORK, without PROPERTY_USAGE_INTERNAL
- Some properties were renamed, and sometimes even shadowed by new ones
- New getter methods (some virtual) were added
Using `misc/scripts/fix_headers.py` on all Godot files.
Some missing header guards were added, and the header inclusion order
was fixed in the Bullet module.
* Added set_text function to RichTextLabel
* Added percent_visible attributes and functions to RichTextLabel
This should make switching from Label to RichTextLabel easier.
