4a50f5ff65 HTML5 callbacks rework.
Fixes compatibility with emscripten 1.39.5+ .
Most input callbacks now require a target and no longer support NULL
defaults.

This commit changes all required null targets to the expected default in
the binding phase.
Since for canvas-related callbacks there is no default, the "#canvas"
selector is used instead.
Additionally, since canvasX and canvasY event properties are no longer
supported, event positions are computed from "clientX" and "clientY" and
the "#canvas" bounding client rect.

435f86cf87 HTML5: Address removal of 'timestamp' in Emscripten 1.39.5
It was removed as noted in the changelog:
https://github.com/emscripten-core/emscripten/blob/1.39.5/ChangeLog.md#v1395-12202019

> Removed `timestamp` field from mouse, wheel, devicemotion and
> deviceorientation events. The presence of a `timestamp` on these
> events was slightly arbitrary, and populating this field caused
> a small profileable overhead that all users might not care about.
> It is easy to get a timestamp of an event by calling
> `emscripten_get_now()` or `emscripten_performance_now()` inside
> the event handler function of any event.

5011afcb6a Export: Improve usability of command line interface
I'm barely scratching the surface of the changes needed to make the
--export command line interface easy to use, but this should already
improve things somewhat.

- Streamline `can_export()` templates check in all platforms, checking
  first for the presence of official templates, then of any defined
  custom template, and reporting on the absence of any.
  Shouldn't change the actual return value much which is still true if
  either release or debug is usable - we might want to change that
  eventually and better validate against the requested target.

- Fix discrepancy between platforms using `custom_package/debug` and
  `custom_template/debug` (resp. `release`).
  All now use `custom_template`, which will break compatibility for
  `export_presets.cfg` with earlier projects (but is easy to fix).

- Use `can_export()` when attempting a command line export and report
  the same errors that would be shown in the editor.

- Improve error reporting after a failed export attempt, handling
  missing template and invalid path more gracefully.

- Cleanup of unused stuff in EditorNode around the export workflow.

- Improve --export documentation in --help a bit.

Fixes #16949 (at least many of the misunderstandings listed there).
Fixes #18470.

dc61323b2c PCK: Set VERSION_PATCH in header, factor out header magic
Unify pack file version and magic to avoid hardcoded literals.

`version.py` now always includes `patch` even for the first release in
a new stable branch (e.g. 3.2). The public name stays without the patch
number, but `Engine.get_version_info()` already included `patch == 0`,
and we can remove some extra handling of undefined `VERSION_PATCH` this
way.

c320a82213 SCons: Add 'split_libmodules' option to workaround linker issue
The new 'split_libmodules=yes' option is useful to work around linker
command line size limitations when linking a huge number of objects.
We're currently over 64k chars when linking libmodules.a on Windows
with MinGW, which triggers issues as seen in #30892.

Even on Linux, we can also reach linker command line size limitations
by adding more custom modules.

We force this option to True for MinGW on Windows, which fixes #30892.

Additional changes to lib splitting:

- Fix linking of the split module libs with interdependent symbols,
  hacking our way into LINKCOM and SHLINKCOM to set the `--start-group`
  and `--end-group` flags.
- Fix Python 3 compatibility in `methods.split_lib()`.
- Drop seemingly obsolete condition for 'msys' on 'posix'.
- Drop the unnecessary 'split_drivers' as the drivers lib is no longer
  too big since we moved all thirdparty builds to modules.

4a56b45f87 iOS: Disable armv7 as target arch by default
We no longer compile for armv7 and x86 in the official export templates,
as those architectures are no longer relevant for iOS.

If users really want to support armv7 (used on devices from before
September 2013, e.g. iPhone 5), they can still build their own templates
and toggle the option.

We might remove the option altogether in a later release to avoid the
confusion for users that might tick the checkbox without having compiled
their own templates.

e9e2a4b044 HTML5: Fix support for Emscripten 1.39.1+
A change in upstream Emscripten 1.39.1+ made our buildsystem error
out where it was previously only issuing a warning:
```
[  5%] Linking Static Library ==> main/libmain.javascript.opt.bc
shared:WARNING: Assuming object file output in the absence of `-c`, based on output filename. Please add with `-c` or `-r` to avoid this warning
/opt/emsdk/upstream/bin/llvm-ranlib: error: unable to load 'main/libmain.javascript.opt.bc': file too small to be an archive
```

As advised on emscripten-core/emscripten#9806, we should be using
`emar` here to create the static library and not `emcc`.
This was apparently done to workaround Emscripten issues in the past,
but evidently this is no longer necessary.

The rest of the `env` redefinitions should probably be re-assessed
against the current state of Emscripten.

A better fix would be to make Godot's export code properly parse the

2019-09-24 16:29:34 +02:00
fhuya
ef143447ad Updates the Godot gradle tasks to enable manual runs of the scons command.
Example: To generate for the `release` build target and for the `armv7`, `arm64v8` and `x86` architectures, run the commands:
```
cd godot
scons -j4 platform=android target=release android_arch=armv7
scons -j4 platform=android target=release android_arch=arm64v8
scons -j4 platform=android target=release android_arch=x86
cd platform/android/java
./gradlew generateGodotTemplates
```

Notes:
- The generated build templates will be located in the `godot/bin` directory (i.e: `android_debug.apk`, `android_release.apk`, `android_source.zip`).
- The gradle command will only generate templates for the target(s) with available native shared libraries. For example, running the commands above will only generate the `android_release.apk` and `android_source.zip` files.

To delete the generated artifacts, the following commands can be used:
```
cd platform/android/java
./gradlew cleanGodotTemplates
```

b12240a199 Fix wrong mouse wheel position for MOUSE_MODE_CAPTURED on Windows
WM_MOUSEWHEEL and WM_MOUSEHWHEEL report mouse coordinates relative to
the screen (see lParam in [1]), rather than to the window like the rest
of the mouse events.

The current code already makes adjustments to take that into account.

However, it only makes the adjustments if the mouse is not captured, and
the coordinates are always relative to the screen regardless of whether
the mouse is captured or not, so let's fix the code to always
consistently apply the adjustments.

This fixes #29559.

2da1614beb Android: Remove unusable android_stl=no option
As of 3.1 and later, we have too many thirdparty C++ dependencies
and some internal uses of `new` and `delete` too for it to make
sense to build without the STL on Android.

The option has been broken since 3.0, and the "System STL" that we
relied on for basic support of `new` and `delete` is likely to be
dropped from the NDK:

0c19674621 Better detect Emscripten toolchain.
Emscripten is apparently changing the variables in its config file,
causing potential breakage of our build system.

Binaries of the latest/latest-upstream releases are located in a
subfolder of BINARYEN_ROOT called emscripten.
Binaries of the other releases (e.g. sdk-1.38.31-64bit) are instead
placed under the EMSCRIPTEN_ROOT folder.

This PR checks if BINARYEN_ROOT has a subfolder called emscripten, if
that does not exists, it falls back to checking the EMSCRIPTEN_ROOT.

This way we give precedence to the new releases, given that activating
multiple releases sequentially might result in having mismatching
BINARYEN_ROOT and EMSCRIPTEN_ROOT.

40f4d3cf0f Add embedded PCK option to PC platforms
The basic point is as in 2.1 (appending the PCK into the executable), but this implementation also patches a dedicated section in the ELF/PE executable so that it matches the appended data perfectly.

The usage of integer types is simplified in existing code; namely, using plain `int` for small quantities.

564d93ff10 CryptoCore class to access to base crypto utils.
Godot core needs MD5/SHA256/AES/Base64 which used to be provided by
separate libraries.
Since we bundle mbedtls in most cases, and we can easily only include
the needed sources if we so desire, let's use it.

To simplify library changes in the future, and better isolate header
dependencies all functions have been wrapped around inside a class in
`core/math/crypto_base.h`.

If the mbedtls module is disabled, we only bundle the needed source
files independently of the `builtin_mbedtls` option.
If the module is enabled, the `builtin_mbedtls` option works as usual.

Also remove some unused headers from StreamPeerMbedTLS which were
causing build issues.

1769cbc0e2 SCons: Default to builtin libpng/freetype on Linux
The rationale for keeping those shared by default is that they're typical
dependencies found on any Linux system, and it saves compilation time and
binary size to link their dynamically.

But since official builds default to all-builtin, and Debian/Ubuntu still
don't have libpng16 (which we now require) readily available on all their
supported releases, it's simpler to bundle all the things.

This does not change the fact that those dependencies *can* be unbundled
on Linux, it's only the default option changing.

512f8ebb93 Fix some keyboards not working with Android
Fixes #17004

Currently the keydown and keyup messages are handled with method like this:

if ((source & InputDevice.SOURCE_JOYSTICK) == InputDevice.SOURCE_JOYSTICK
|| (source & InputDevice.SOURCE_DPAD) == InputDevice.SOURCE_DPAD
|| (source & InputDevice.SOURCE_GAMEPAD) == InputDevice.SOURCE_GAMEPAD) {
// joystick input
}
else
{
// keyboard input
}

The constant for SOURCE_DPAD is 513
10 0000 0001

and the constant for SOURCE_KEYBOARD is 257
1 0000 0001

However, rather confusingly, for many keyboards the source sent by android is 769
11 0000 0001

Thus the keyboard is passing the check as being a DPAD and being processed as a joystick rather than keyboard. This PR handles the specific case of 769, allowing input from physical keyboards.

ad504b926f Add option to toggle console window on Windows
This is an editor setting and its value can also be toggled
using an entry in the Editor toolbar. The console will still
appear briefly when starting the project manager or editor,
as it's still compiled as console application.

Does not impact exported games, which will still run without
console in release and with console in debug mode.

A project setting or export option could be added to disable
it in debug mode if there's demand for it, but that would
greatly reduce the usefulness of debug builds if Windows users
can no longer report error and crash messages.

Fixes #17889.

Those were disable to keep size small, and on Android avoid the dependency on the STL,
but for tools build (editor) this is not really a concern.

Note: as of today it's not possible to build tools=yes for those platforms, but this
change is one of the necessary steps to enable it.

Fixes #25262.

c2a669a9f0 SCons: Review uses of CCFLAGS, CXXFLAGS and CPPFLAGS
Many contributors (me included) did not fully understand what CCFLAGS,
CXXFLAGS and CPPFLAGS refer to exactly, and were thus not using them
in the way they are intended to be.

As per the SCons manual: https://www.scons.org/doc/HTML/scons-user/apa.html

- CCFLAGS: General options that are passed to the C and C++ compilers.
- CFLAGS: General options that are passed to the C compiler (C only;
  not C++).
- CXXFLAGS: General options that are passed to the C++ compiler. By
  default, this includes the value of $CCFLAGS, so that setting
  $CCFLAGS affects both C and C++ compilation.
- CPPFLAGS: User-specified C preprocessor options. These will be
  included in any command that uses the C preprocessor, including not
  just compilation of C and C++ source files [...], but also [...]
  Fortran [...] and [...] assembly language source file[s].

TL;DR: Compiler options go to CCFLAGS, unless they must be restricted
to either C (CFLAGS) or C++ (CXXFLAGS). Preprocessor defines go to
CPPFLAGS.

When getting system directories for Windows, we currently use
SHGetFolderPathW. This is a deprecated function and doesn't support
"Downloads" folders.

As a replacement, this commit uses the newer SHGetKnownFolderPath
function, which is supported since Windows Vista. Godot 3.0 only
supports Windows 7+, so we don't need to use SHGetFolderPathW for
backwards compatibility.

This function calls the bottom function

8d117b214f/drivers/unix/os_unix.cpp (L312)

OS.execute doesn't send out a value to stderr, so stderr defaults to
false, which will invoke this bottom line and always silence stderr.

8d117b214f/drivers/unix/os_unix.cpp (L315)

Some programs, such as FFmpeg, will print out to stderr with valuable
and vital information. This fixes stderr always being silenced, user can
now opt to have it be read as normal.

b0f782a0e3 Disable driver fallback to GLES2 by default
GLES2 is not designed to be a drop-in replacement for the GLES3 backend,
so the fallback mode has to be used knowingly. It *can* make sense for
simple projects which make sure to handle the differences between both
rendering backends, but most users should stick to one supported backend.

By making it opt-in, we can now use this parameter to define whether to
export ETC textures to Android and iOS when using GLES3 + Fallback.

When using GLES3 without Fallback on Android, set the proper min GLES
version in the AndroidManifest.

Also made the option boolean and renamed it for clarity and to avoid

Set WINVER and _WIN32_WINNT values in VS project
While looking into a different issue, I've noticed that Visual Studio Intellisense does not work well for Godot project when using Windows Vista+ APIs (e.g. CreateThreadpool), i.e. it does not recognise the APIs because they are defined in Windows header files for Vista+ only.

This is because the WINVER and _WIN32_WINNT symbols don't have their values set in the generated Godot project file. This fixes the problem by setting the values when generating the project file.

e5b335d367 Don't use -ffast-math or other unsafe math optimizations
Godot supports many different compilers and for production releases we
have to support 3 currently: GCC8, Clang6, and MSVC2017. These compilers
all do slightly different things with -ffast-math and it is causing
issues now. See #24841, #24540, #10758, #10070. And probably other
complaints about physics differences between release and release_debug
builds.

I've done some performance comparisons on Linux x86_64. All tests are
ran 20 times.

Bunnymark: (higher is better)
(bunnies)    min    max  stdev average
fast-math   7332   7597    71     7432
this pr     7379   7779   108     7621 (102%)

FPBench (gdscript port http://fpbench.org/) (lower is better)
(ms)
fast-math  15441  16127   192    15764
this pr    15671  16855   326    16001  (99%)

Float_add (adding floats in a tight loop) (lower is better)
(sec)
fast-math   5.49   5.78  0.07     5.65
this pr     5.65   5.90  0.06     5.76  (98%)

Float_div (dividing floats in a tight loop) (lower is better)
(sec)
fast-math  11.70  12.36  0.18    11.99
this pr    11.92  12.32  0.12    12.12  (99%)

Float_mul (multiplying floats in a tight loop) (lower is better)
(sec)
fast-math  11.72  12.17  0.12    11.93
this pr    12.01  12.62  0.17    12.26  (97%)

I have also looked at FPS numbers for tps-demo, 3d platformer, 2d
platformer, and sponza and could not find any measurable difference.

I believe that given the issues and oft-reported (physics) glitches on
release builds I believe that the couple of percent of tight-loop
floating point performance regression is well worth it.

6770357e47 Android: Better identify thirdparty C/C++ code
- The `cpu-features.{c,h}` code was only used by chance by the webm
  (libvpx) code, so I moved it there. It was actually introduced before
  that and wasn't in use, and libvpx just happened to be able to
  compile thanks to it being bundled.
  It could potentially be compiled on the fly from the Android NDK, but
  since we plan to replace the webm module by a GDNative plugin in the
  near future, I went the bundling route.

- `ifaddrs_android.h` is already provided in the Android NDK as
  `ifaddrs.h`, same as on other Unixes. Yet we cannot use it until we
  up the min API level to 24, where `getifaddrs` is first defined.
  I moved the files to `thirdparty/misc` and synced them with upstream
  WebRTC (only indentation changes and removal of `static` qualifiers).

Also removes dropped thirdparty files from COPYRIGHT.txt after changes
in #24105 and #24145.

cf124b1415 Use XInput2 RawMotion to generate MouseMotion events
The current system for capturing the mouse and generating motion events on X11
has issues with inaccurate and lopsided input. This is because both
XQueryPointer and XWarpPointer work in terms of integer coordinates when the
underlying X11 input driver may be tracking the mouse using subpixel
coordinates. When warping the pointer, the fractional part of the pointer
position is discarded.

To work around this issue, the fix uses raw motion events from XInput 2. These
events report relative motion and are not affected by pointer warping.
Additionally, this means Godot is able to detect motion at a higher resolution
under X11. Because this is raw mouse input, it is not affected by the user's
pointer speed and acceleration settings. This is the same system as SDL2 uses
for its relative motion.

Multitouch input on X requires XInput 2.2. Raw motion events require
XInput 2.0. Since 2.0 is old enough, this is now the minimum requirement to
use Godot on X.

653b832422 Fixed hang when segfaulting after OS object destroyed (OSX and X11)
The two POSIX style crash handlers (OSX and X11) now remove their signal
handlers when they are destroyed.
Additonally if they are called while no OS singleton is set, they will
simply abort(). This should not happen now that they remove themselves,
but if a future change seperates OS object and crash handler lifetimes,
this may be easier to report/debug than hanging on SIGSEGV.

9a1deedb84 When resizing an X11 window wait for the WM to process our request
On X11 when we send an XResizeWindow request to the X server it is happy
to say it is done when the request has been handed over to the window
manager. The window manager itself may however take some time to
actually do the resize. Godot expects that a resize request is
immediate. To work around this issue we could implement the whole
_NET_WM_SYNC_REQUEST protocol. However this protocol does not fit very
well with the way we currently process X events and would when
implemented in the current framework still cause a 1 frame delay between
a resize request and the actual resize happening.

This fixes #21720

query the X server for this information when we start and update the

In addition when we move the window we also update the mouse position
based off of X server knowledge as we will also not have received any
mouse motion events.

3624644630 Pass -isysroot to compiler / linker when doing a macOS build
Previously the compiler would use system headers located at
/System/Library/Frameworks, which could result in compilation failures
due to the headers not always being up-to-date in regards to the
latest installed macOS SDK headers that come with Xcode.

Fix the issue by passing the SDK path via the -isysroot option to the
compiler and linker invocations.

If no custom SDK path is given, the build system queries the SDK path
via xcrun --show-sdk-path, which returns something similar to

/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/
 /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX.sdk/

Querying via xcrun is now also done for iphone (and simulator)
platforms as well.

Here is an example of a compilation failure message due to outdated
headers:

platform/osx/os_osx.mm:1421:41: error: use of undeclared identifier 'NSAppKitVersionNumber10_12'; did you mean 'NSAppKitVersionNumber'?
                                if (floor(NSAppKitVersionNumber) >= NSAppKitVersionNumber10_12) {
                                                                    ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

3d4b7c6c5f When setting an X11 icon fails, try halving the size
When setting an icon that is too large previously Godot would die with a
X Error of failed request: BadLength error. To avoid this we install an
error handler right before we set an icon. If the error handler triggers
we halve the icon size until it works or until we've reached a 0 size on
either width or height.

We print a warning when this happens to alert developers.

08f452d1a9 Fall back to GLES2 if GLES3 is not working
This adds a static is_viable() method to all rasterizers which has to be
called before initializing the rasterizer. This allows us to check what
rasterizer to use in OS::initialize together with the GL context
initialization.

This commit also adds a new project setting
"rendering/quality/driver/driver_fallback" which allows the creator of a
project to specify whether or not fallback to GLES2 is allowed. This
setting is ignored for the editor so the editor will always open even if
the project itself cannot run. This will hopefully reduce confusion for
users downloading projects from the internet.

We also no longer crash when GLES3 is not functioning on a platform.

c5bd0c37ce Running builder (content generator) functions in subprocesses on Windows
- Refactored all builder (make_*) functions into separate Python modules along to the build tree
- Introduced utility function to wrap all invocations on Windows, but does not change it elsewhere
- Introduced stub to use the builders module as a stand alone script and invoke a selected function

There is a problem with file handles related to writing generated content (*.gen.h and *.gen.cpp)
on Windows, which randomly causes a SHARING VIOLATION error to the compiler resulting in flaky
builds. Running all such content generators in a new subprocess instead of directly inside the
build script works around the issue.

Yes, I tried the multiprocessing module. It did not work due to conflict with SCons on cPickle.
Suggested workaround did not fully work either.

Using the run_in_subprocess wrapper on osx and x11 platforms as well for consistency. In case of
running a cross-compilation on Windows they would still be used, but likely it will not happen
in practice. What counts is that the build itself is running on which platform, not the target
platform.

Some generated files are written directly in an SConstruct or SCsub file, before the parallel build starts. They don't need to be written in a subprocess, apparently, so I left them as is.

0e29f7974b Reduce unnecessary COW on Vector by make writing explicit
This commit makes operator[] on Vector const and adds a write proxy to it. From
now on writes to Vectors need to happen through the .write proxy. So for
instance:

Vector<int> vec;
vec.push_back(10);
std::cout << vec[0] << std::endl;
vec.write[0] = 20;

Failing to use the .write proxy will cause a compilation error.

In addition COWable datatypes can now embed a CowData pointer to their data.
This means that String, CharString, and VMap no longer use or derive from
Vector.

_ALWAYS_INLINE_ and _FORCE_INLINE_ are now equivalent for debug and non-debug
builds. This is a lot faster for Vector in the editor and while running tests.
The reason why this difference used to exist is because force-inlined methods
used to give a bad debugging experience. After extensive testing with modern
compilers this is no longer the case.

f392650be2 Improve return value of OS.execute in blocking/non-blocking variants
Initialized the PID to -2, which will be the value returns in blocking-
mode where the PID is not available. (-1 was already taken to signify an
execution failure).

OS::execute will now properly return a non-OK error code when it fails
to execute the target file.

The documentation was rewritten to be very clear about the differences
between blocking and non-blocking mode.
