01d0addf56 Unified named colors in RichTextLabel
Now the BB tag `[color]` uses the color names from the `Color` class.

doc: Override default value for RandomNumberGenerator.seed
It's non-deterministic so it's better to show a fixed value like 0 instead of
having it potentially change whenever `randomize()` is called.

f123981a96 Implement DirectionalLight2D
Also separated Light2D in PointLight2D and DirectionalLight2D.
Used PointLight2D because its more of a point, and it does not work
the same as OmniLight (as shape depends on texture).
Added a few utility methods to Rect2D I needed.

b8c64184c6 Refactored binding system for core types
Moved to a system using variadic templates, shared with CallableBind.

New code is cleaner, faster and allows for much better optimization of core
type functions from GDScript and GDNative.

Added Variant::InternalMethod function for direct call access.

Remove redundant is_equal_approx_ratio method
is_equal_approx is able to handle values of any size, and is_equal_approx_ratio is no longer used in any exposed APIs, so we don't need is_equal_approx_ratio anymore. Also, add #ifdef MATH_CHECKS for a method that is only used when MATH_CHECKS is defined.

Linux/BSD: Fix support for NetBSD
Add __NetBSD__ to `platform_config.h` so that it can find `alloca`
and use the proper `pthread_setname_np` format.

Rename RANDOM_MAX to avoid conflict with NetBSD stdlib.

Fixes #42145.

7f9bfee0ac GDScript: Clarified/fixed inaccuracies in the built-in function docs.
The input to smoothstep is not actually a weight, and the decscription
of smoothstep was pretty hard to understand and easy to misinterpret.

Clarified what it means to be approximately equal.

nearest_po2 does not do what the descriptions says it does. For one,
it returns the same power if the input is a power of 2. Second, it
returns 0 if the input is negative or 0, while the smallest possible
integral power of 2 actually is 1 (2^0 = 1). Due to the implementation
and how it is used in a lot of places, it does not seem wise to change
such a core function however, and I decided it is better to alter the
description of the built-in.

Added a few examples/clarifications/edge-cases.

85220fec01 Style: Remove unnecessary semicolons from core
Semicolons are not necessary after function definitions or control flow
blocks, and having some code use them makes things inconsistent (and
occasionally can mess up `clang-format`'s formatting).

Removing them is tedious work though, I had to do this manually (regex
+ manual review) as I couldn't find a tool for that. All other code
folders would need to get the same treatment.

07bc4e2f96 Style: Enforce separation line between function definitions
I couldn't find a tool that enforces it, so I went the manual route:

This adds a newline after all `}` on the first column, unless they
are followed by `#` (typically `#endif`). This leads to having lots
of places with two lines between function/class definitions, but
clang-format then fixes it as we enforce max one line of separation.

This doesn't fix potential occurrences of function definitions which
are indented (e.g. for a helper class defined in a .cpp), but it's
better than nothing. Also can't be made to run easily on CI/hooks so
we'll have to be careful with new code.

0be6d925dc Style: clang-format: Disable KeepEmptyLinesAtTheStartOfBlocks
Which means that reduz' beloved style which we all became used to
will now be changed automatically to remove the first empty line.

This makes us lean closer to 1TBS (the one true brace style) instead
of hybridating it with some Allman-inspired spacing.

There's still the case of braces around single-statement blocks that
needs to be addressed (but clang-format can't help with that, but
clang-tidy may if we agree about it).

1f6f364a56 Port member initialization from constructor to declaration (C++11)
Using `clang-tidy`'s `modernize-use-default-member-init` check and
manual review of the changes, and some extra manual changes that
`clang-tidy` failed to do.

Also went manually through all of `core` to find occurrences that
`clang-tidy` couldn't handle, especially all initializations done
in a constructor without using initializer lists.

87ba4daf4b Fixed false positives in the culling system.
This fixes numerous false positives coming out of the culling system.

AABB checks are now a full separating-axis check against the frustum, with the points of the frustum being compared to the planes of the box just as the points of the box were being compared to the planes of the frustum. This fixes large objects behind the camera not being culled correctly.

Some systems that used frustums that were (sometimes mistakenly?) unbounded on one or more side have been modified to be fully enclosed.

cd4e46ee65 SCons: Format buildsystem files with psf/black
Configured for a max line length of 120 characters.

psf/black is very opinionated and purposely doesn't leave much room for
configuration. The output is mostly OK so that should be fine for us,
but some things worth noting:

- Manually wrapped strings will be reflowed, so by using a line length
  of 120 for the sake of preserving readability for our long command
  calls, it also means that some manually wrapped strings are back on
  the same line and should be manually merged again.

- Code generators using string concatenation extensively look awful,
  since black puts each operand on a single line. We need to refactor
  these generators to use more pythonic string formatting, for which
  many options are available (`%`, `format` or f-strings).

- CI checks and a pre-commit hook will be added to ensure that future
  buildsystem changes are well-formatted.

cb282c6ef0 Style: Set clang-format Standard to Cpp11
For us, it practically only changes the fact that `A<A<int>>` is now
used instead of the C++03 compatible `A<A<int> >`.

Note: clang-format 10+ changed the `Standard` arguments to fully
specified `c++11`, `c++14`, etc. versions, but we can't use `c++17`
now if we want to preserve compatibility with clang-format 8 and 9.
`Cpp11` is still supported as deprecated alias for `Latest`.

1c2f2a805d typedefs: Cleanup unused macros and unnecessary checks
We now require a compiler with C++17 support, so we don't need to
check for features added to GCC 5 or Clang 3.2.

Clang builtin availability checks were unused anyway as Clang defines
`__GNUC__` as it's also a GNU C implementation.

Fixes #36986.

33b5c57199 Variant: Added 64-bit packed arrays, renamed Variant::REAL to FLOAT.
- Renames PackedIntArray to PackedInt32Array.
- Renames PackedFloatArray to PackedFloat32Array.
- Adds PackedInt64Array and PackedFloat64Array.
- Renames Variant::REAL to Variant::FLOAT for consistency.

Packed arrays are for storing large amount of data and creating stuff like
meshes, buffers. textures, etc. Forcing them to be 64 is a huge waste of
memory. That said, many users requested the ability to have 64 bits packed
arrays for their games, so this is just an optional added type.

For Variant, the float datatype is always 64 bits, and exposed as `float`.

We still have `real_t` which is the datatype that can change from 32 to 64
bits depending on a compile flag (not entirely working right now, but that's
the idea). It affects math related datatypes and code only.

Neither Variant nor PackedArray make use of real_t, which is only intended
for math precision, so the term is removed from there to keep only float.

eaf8e5ce52 Change CameraMatrix::get_viewport_size to get_viewport_half_extents
Fixes #26637.
Fixes #19900.

The viewport_size returned by get_viewport_size was previously incorrect, being half the correct value. The function is renamed to get_viewport_half_extents, and now returns a Vector2.

Code which called this function has also been modified accordingly.

This PR also fixes shadow culling when using ortho cameras, because the correct input for CameraMatrix::set_orthogonal should be the full HEIGHT from get_viewport_half_extents, and not half the width.

It also fixes state.ubo_data.viewport_size in rasterizer_scene_gles3.cpp to be the width and the height of the viewport in pixels as stated in the documentation, rather than the current value which is half the viewport extents in worldspace, presumed to be a bug.

749d917424 Fix severe performance drop while deflating polylines
Underscaled arc tolerance produced very small values so that changes
to this parameter were negligible when scaled internally, hence significant
performance drop (lots of intermediate points inserted in an arc). Now the
performance is mostly the same compared to other types of offsetting
(SQUARE, MITER).

Fixed bug caused by a copy/paste error in Face3::get_closest_point_to
s * edge0 = -d / a * edge0 = -edge0⋅v0 / (edge0⋅edge0) * edge0 = vector projection of -v0 onto edge0

By incorrectly using -e/c instead of -d/a, Face3::get_closest_point_to was returning the wrong point in certain cases.  Specifically, I noticed it returning vertex[0] when it should have been returning vertex[1].

Also allow lifting the decimal step formatting with a hint range step
of 0. A new `range_step_decimals()` is added for this to avoid breaking
compatibility on the general purpose `step_decimals()` (which still

a60f242982 Add integer posmod and rename default arg names
"posmod" is the integer version of "fposmod". We do not need a "mod" because of the % operator.

I changed the default arg names from "x" and "y" to "a" and "b" because they are not coordinates. I also changed pow's arg names to "base" and "exp". Also, I reorganized the code in the VS built-in funcs switch statement.

b0d41847ed SCons: Use CPPDEFINES instead of CPPFLAGS for pre-processor defines
It's the recommended way to set those, and is more portable
(automatically prepends -D for GCC/Clang and /D for MSVC).

We still use CPPFLAGS for some pre-processor flags which are not

564d93ff10 CryptoCore class to access to base crypto utils.
Godot core needs MD5/SHA256/AES/Base64 which used to be provided by
separate libraries.
Since we bundle mbedtls in most cases, and we can easily only include
the needed sources if we so desire, let's use it.

To simplify library changes in the future, and better isolate header
dependencies all functions have been wrapped around inside a class in
`core/math/crypto_base.h`.

If the mbedtls module is disabled, we only bundle the needed source
files independently of the `builtin_mbedtls` option.
If the module is enabled, the `builtin_mbedtls` option works as usual.

Also remove some unused headers from StreamPeerMbedTLS which were
causing build issues.

Clipper 6.4.2 is used internally to perform polypaths clipping, as well
as inflating/deflating polypaths. The following methods were added:

```

All the methods return an array of polygons/polylines. The resulting
polygons could possibly be holes which could be checked with
`Geometry.is_polygon_clockwise()` which was exposed to scripting as well.

5f1b9a2313 Improved uniformity of RandomPCG::randf.
When generating single precision floats, Godot casts a uint32_t to float,
causing uniformity loss.

This new randf, inspired by T. R. Campbell's random_real, samples the output
of rand as the fraction part of an infinite binary number, with some tricks
to reduce ops and branching. This method provides "good enough" uniformity at
decent speed, for floats greater than 2^-64. Smaller numbers are floored to 0.

81be9542eb Remove unused "dtoll" methods
These methods aren't used anywhere in Godot's code, and all they do is cast floating types to int64_t. There's no reason to have these lines, they literally do nothing, and they aren't useful functions to begin with.

There happens a segmentation fault when you use Expression.parse() and you don't check for errors and then run Expression.execute(). So we check if there was a parse error in the execute method now.

We delete the faces for consideration in this loop but we can still
sometimes find an edge that connects to this face. We now interate over

0e29f7974b Reduce unnecessary COW on Vector by make writing explicit
This commit makes operator[] on Vector const and adds a write proxy to it.  From
now on writes to Vectors need to happen through the .write proxy. So for
instance:

Vector<int> vec;
vec.push_back(10);
std::cout << vec[0] << std::endl;
vec.write[0] = 20;

Failing to use the .write proxy will cause a compilation error.

In addition COWable datatypes can now embed a CowData pointer to their data.
This means that String, CharString, and VMap no longer use or derive from
Vector.

_ALWAYS_INLINE_ and _FORCE_INLINE_ are now equivalent for debug and non-debug
builds. This is a lot faster for Vector in the editor and while running tests.
The reason why this difference used to exist is because force-inlined methods
used to give a bad debugging experience. After extensive testing with modern
compilers this is no longer the case.

Fixes most current reports on Coverity Scan of uninitialized scalar
variable (CWE-457): https://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/457.html

These happen most of the time (in our code) when instanciating structs
without a constructor (or with an incomplete one), and later returning
the instance. This is sometimes intended though, as some parameters are
only used in some situations and should not be double-initialized for
performance reasons (e.g. `constant` in ShaderLanguage::Token).

91215e1919 Fix polygon triangulation failure.
The ear clipping algorithm used to triangulate polygons has a slightly too conservative point-in-triangle test which can, in some configurations prevent it from finding a possible tessellation. Relaxing the test by considering that points exactly on edges don't belong the triangle fixes the issue. Changing the semantic of the test is safe because no other code makes use of it. A more detailed explanation can be found in issue #16395.

e9896b17a9 Restore the behavior of Spatial rotations recently changed in c1153f5.
That change was borne out of a confusion regarding the meaning of "local" in #14569.

Affine transformations in Spatial simply correspond to affine operations of its Transform. Such operations take place in a coordinate system that is defined by the parent Spatial. When there is no parent, they correspond to operations in the global coordinate system.
This coordinate system, which is relative to the parent, has been referred to as the local coordinate system in the docs so far, but this sloppy language has apparently confused some users, making them think that the local coordinate system refers to the one whose axes are "painted" on the Spatial node itself.

To avoid such conceptual conflations and misunderstandings in the future, the parent-relative local system is now referred to as "parent-local", and the object-relative local system is called "object-local" in the docs.

This commit adds the functionality "requested" in #14569, not by changing how rotate/scale/translate works, but by adding new rotate_object_local, scale_object_local and translate_object_local functions. Also, for completeness, there is now global_scale.

This commit also updates another part of the docs regarding the rotation property of Spatial, which also leads to confusion among some users.

a0bbf5c9af Remove Basis::set_scale and Basis::set_rotation_* functions.
Those functions were added in #8277 but they did more harm than good. They're subtle, don't do what people think and requires users to understand the non-uniqueness of polar decomposition. They ended up confusing people.

Until we store additional information enough to make a unique polar decomposition, these functions shouldn't be a part of Basis.

As discussed in issues #1479 and #9782, choosing the up axis (which is Y in Godot) as the axis of the last (or first) rotation is helpful in practical use cases.
This also aligns Godot's convention with Unity, helping with a smoother transition for people who are used to working with Unity (issue #9905).

Internally, both XYZ and YXZ functions are kept, for potential future applications.

97d510531a Fix polar decomposition in 2D.
When performing polar decomposition in 2D as B = R.S, where R is rotation (with determinant +1) and S is scaling, use the convention that reflections are absorbed into S through a reflection around y axis.
In 3D, this is done by using a reflection along all three axes, but since the dimensionality is even in 2D, one axis needs to be chosen.

Fixes Matrix32::get_rotation and Matrix32::get_scale (which weren't properly fixed in #7445).

b696beea65 Correct hash behavior for floating point numbers
This fixes HashMap where a key or part of a key is a floating point
number. To fix this the following has been done:

* HashMap now takes an extra template argument Comparator. This class
gets used to compare keys. The default Comperator now works correctly
for common types and floating point numbets.

* Variant implements ::hash_compare() now. This function implements
nan-safe comparison for all types with components that contain floating
point numbers.

* Variant now has a VariantComparator which uses Variant::hash_compare()
safely compare floating point components of variant's types.

* The hash functions for floating point numbers will now normalize NaN
values so that all floating point numbers that are NaN hash to the same
value.

C++ module writers that want to use HashMap internally in their modules

adcc211feb Make nan==nan true for GDScript
After discussing this with Reduz this seemed like the best way to
fix #7354. This will make composite values that contain NaN in the same
places as well as the same other values compare as the same.

Additionally non-composite values now also compare equal if they are
both NaN. This breaks IEEE specifications but this is probably what most
users expect. There is a GDScript function check for NaN if the user
needs this information.

This fixes #7354 and probably also fixes #6947

3890256fc5 Style: Cleanups, added headers, renamed files
Made sure files in core/ and tools/ have a proper Godot license header
when written by us. Also renamed aabb.{cpp,h} and object_type_db.{cpp,h}
to rect3.{cpp,h} and class_db.{cpp,h} respectively.

Also added a proper header to core/io/base64.{c,h} after clarifying
the licensing with the original author (public domain).

4c9004671a Replace the existing PRNG (Xorshift31) with (minimal) PCG (XSH-RR variant with 32-bit output, 64-bit state).
PCG is better than many alternatives by many metrics (see www.pcg-random.org) including statistical quality with good speed.

f271591ac2 Various corrections in 2D math.
This is the follow up for the 2D changes mentioned in PR #6865. It fixes various mistakes regarding the order of matrix indices, order of transformation operations, usage of atan2 function and ensures that the sense of rotation is compatible with a left-handed coordinate system with Y-axis pointing down (which flips the sense of rotations along the z-axis). Also replaced float with real_t, and tried to make use of Matrix32 methods rather than accessing its elements directly.

Affected code in the Godot code base is also fixed in this commit.

The user code using functions involving angles such as atan2, angle_to, get_rotation, set_rotation will need to be updated to conform with the new behavior. Furthermore, the sign of the rotation angles in existing 2D scene files need to be flipped as well.

6b1252cdfa Fix the order in which additional transformations are applied in Matrix3 and Transform.
This is a part of the breaking changes proposed in PR #6865, solving the issue regarding the order of affine transformations described in #2565. This PR also fixes the affected code within Godot codebase. Includes improvements to documentation too.

Another change is, Matrix3::get_scale() will now return negative scaling when the determinant of the matrix is negative. The rationale behind this is simple: when performing a polar decomposition on a basis matrix M = R.S, we have to ensure that the determinant of R is +1, such that it is a proper rotation matrix (with no reflections) which can be represented by Euler angles or a quaternion.

Also replaced the few instances of float with real_t in Matrix3 and Transform.

Furthermore, this PR fixes an issue introduced due to the API breakage in #6865. Namely Matrix3::get_euler() now only works with proper rotation matrices. As a result, the code that wants to get the rotation portion of a transform needs to use Matrix3::get_rotation() introduced in this commit, which complements Matrix3::get_scaled(), providing both parts of the polar decomposition.

Finally, it is now possible to construct a rotation matrix from Euler angles using the new constructor Matrix3::Matrix3(const Vector3 &p_euler).

bd7ba0b664 Use right handed coordinate system for rotation matrices and quaternions. Also fixes Euler angles (XYZ convention, which is used as default by Blender).
Furthermore, functions which expect a rotation matrix will now give an error simply, rather than trying to orthonormalize such matrices. The documentation for such functions has be updated accordingly.

This commit breaks code using 3D rotations, and is a part of the breaking changes in 2.1 -> 3.0 transition. The code affected within Godot code base is fixed in this commit.

All usages of "type" to refer to classes were renamed to "class"
ClassDB has been exposed to GDScript.
